  1. On my 245 estate I went for Front assist, Blind Spot detect, Rear Traffic Alert, Folding Mirrors which included the dimming mirrors as it is a family load lugger I went for additional safety features. Really been impressed with the Octavia however the pull of a Golf R estate has lured me and the fact there is unlikely to be a MK8 R estate I am making the jump. Will be a nice 19plate estate on the market in the next 2 weeks.
  2. Cheers guys will probably just trade it in against the Golf for ease then. Yeah with the TAX taken off and military discount along with paying in cash so no interest etc and ARAL tax free 102RON at about 60p a litre made keeping the car not such a bad move for a year for me considering I have done 14.5k miles with peace of mind and selling my old car that was due a timing belt change and would have needed to be put through the German TUV system etc. Eventually on return to the UK I will go back to SH cars again but whilst here just thought I may as well enjoy life a bit rather than being thrifty. Just thought it could be a good saving on similar lower spec vehicles being sold at dealers for approx 3.5/4K more with less spec.
  3. Does anyone have any good advice where is best to advertise a nearly new car for sale? I’m looking to sell my 19 Plate VRS estate mid next month, obliviously depending how the current situation pans out. I was planning another VRS but the new model seems a bit of a time away yet. My new VW Golf R is ready to collect and VW are going to hold it till I can get back from Germany. Was just going to Trade I’m against the Golf but might try advertising it privately as even at just over trade in price should still be a good buy still with 2 years warranty and some decent options I added. I have really been impressed with the VRS which was my first ever new car and SKODA. Hoping to get a fully loaded VRS before leaving Germany and coming back to the Uk in a couple of years.
  4. If you don’t mind me asking what age of car are they offering you £16,200? I am due to collect a new Golf R estate as soon as the current situation blows over and I can get back from Germany. The company that we deal with for Tax free vehicles has offered me just shy of £17500 for my 19 Plate UK Spec VRS estate with over 1k of options on with 15k on clock and I’m tempted to take it rather than hassle of selling privately or to WBAC etc.
  5. When MY19 VRS 245 was dropped off earlier in Mar I took my 62plate V60 R-Design to Evans Halshaw Ipswich after using the various car buying sites they offered a decent price, minus 150 for some minor kerbing on one wheel and a small split on the leather seat which I thought was not unreasonable. Will be interesting to see what I’m offered for my year old VRS from them when it comes to selling next Mar as I can imagine selling a year old car privately could take a while.
  6. From experience having to pass the German TUV Light Test after taking MY19 Uk VRS245 to live in Germany for a couple of years at the start of this year the settings change from RHD/LHD for lights provided minimal change but seemed enough to prevent dazzling other drivers. After some head shaking etc from the TUV testers and me panicking at the thought of shelling out £1k+ to change the headlights in a car I only plan to keep for a year and then sell on the gents tweaked the controls on the light cluster and managed to bring them within tolerance (possibly just), but a pass is a pass.
  7. Picked up my 245 in Mar this year and have been nipping back and forth between Suffolk and Central Germany and have done 4.5k already and really enjoying the car with no glitches, just gutted that the new VRS won’t be out by next March when I sell this one but may look at the Kodiaq VRS next as an option. Over the years I have driven a few Auto vehicles for shorter periods mostly Shogun/Pajero through work and I think I am sold on the DSG and doubt I will return to a manual vehicle now.
  8. J.R it might be the case that car is UK Spec but purchased by a member of HM Forces Tax Free serving in Cyprus and they had it shipped out? I am in Germany at the minute and purchased my new VRS in Mar 19 and it is extacky same as any other UK spec car and collected in UK from a Skoda Dealership etc, I took it back to Germany with me and register it in our BFG System which is still part of DVLA and keep it for a year before selling to avoid paying the Tax back. I know guys have cars shipped to Cyprus if serving there and they are generally purchased from Forces Cars Direct//EMC/Griffin etc who interact with UK dealerships and do Tax paperwork on our behalf. Good luck with your quest to create a VRS sleeper, would a quick check online of the VRN still not come up as the 2.0TSi engine giving it away!? Anyone fancy a nice 1 year old VRS estate in Mar 2020!? Hoping the new Octavia VRS will be around by then but not holding out much hope so may be a Kodiak VRS on the cards next.
  9. I went red with meteor grey paint. The interior is all quite dark so I thought the red added a bit of colour and also matched the brake callipers! I had to choose so that was my rational.
  10. Nice easy run down to Dover today, filled to top before leaving and 14L to top up again before getting on ferry. 245 DSG Shell V Power/Esso driving In Normal coasting at 50/70mph depending on limits.
  11. Finally arrived last week after ordering start of Dec! Really happy with it, was a bit anxious as after test driving about 10 other vehicles i decided to go for the Octavia without ever having been in one! DSG Blind Spot Monitor Front Assist Electric Folding Mirrors HBA
  12. Cheers gents that’s all working now, I had tried it earlier but with no joy as I hadn’t seen the bit at the bottom changing the light type to LED bid 12W!
  13. Ok making progress I have taken delivery of car and I have checked and the led bulbs are present in the ns rear cluster. I have got an OBDeleven. I have looked through various threads with differing answers. Does anyone have or know where I could find a step by step guide to activate the second fog light using the OBD11?
  14. I take it the mpg should improve as the miles clock up? The 28-32mpg over first 200 miles has been with Shell V Power which I plan to stick with.
