  1. I had the same problem about a year ago, and all I did was reseal the rubber seal around the front windscreen, where I discovered the leak was. The water travelled down along the inside of the car towards the back. A special glass bond kit bought in a car accessories shop. Good luck.
  2. Thanks everyone, I will check seals and door seals asap. Thanks for the link Isoma. Taxi219, thanks, its a good idea, indeed quite common, but I don't have a rear washer. Its a 03 octavia, they don't even have a back wiper. I hope its the trims/seals, as I don't need major repairs.
  3. When I first went looking for a Skoda, I noticed that the FABIA had wet carpet in the back floor spaces so I assumed a leak, and this could occur in that particular make... Now to my horror, I have that problem in the front and back right hand side footwells, in my Octavia 1.4. Can someone please tell me why? Nothing in the car has changed, other than the Cat Converter is missing at the moment awaiting replacement, since 4 ignition coils gave up................. Please help:confused:
  4. At the start of last summer I had 4 ignition coils replaced (first 1, then no 2, then no's 3 and 4 together). Of course the Cat had to be replaced as well as it went. Can anyone verify (Southern Ireland rules apply here:D) if an ignition coil goes again within 12 months (as it did yesterday), is it covered by warranty ie parts warranty? Does anyone know about the rule which applied to WV, if it applies to Skoda as well, that if two ignition coils blow, that you got all four for the price of the two? Please help, as I'm sure I've been caught out somewhere along the line. I will be staying far away from the dealer from now on anyway as their service is CR*P:thumbdwn: Thanks all!!
  5. Hi, ye might remember me some time back asking loads of questions about getting a Skoda Octavia. Well I havn't looked back since, and it has been the best car ive had so far. (out of at least 10 in 9 years driving!) Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who helped make my decision easier!! Touch wood, but ive had no problems with it, driven across England and back during Easter, about to travel to Europe with it and back so it will be put to the test again!! Got a heart attack when full service was done, but brake pads, wipers, plugs, sump etc all cost money!! So might try independant garage next time..........
  6. Im in Ireland so excuse the Euro prices here, ive just had a service at 67K and it cost 352euros. I expected half!! But of course I forgot that i used the main dealer and original parts etc!! Is is safe to go to an independent mechanic?? Would love to save money on next service!! BTW all that was done was 2 wiper blades, oil and filter, plug, filter element and pollen filter, and screen wash too!!:(
  7. Ouch, that sucks!! Best of luck with the insurance company. Thank god ur house wasn't badly damaged.
  8. Ive clocked up 10,000 miles since I bought the Octavia 1.4 Petrol. I came here first back in March, as a Newbie:D , and thanks to all of you who answered my questions I havn't looked back!! Its a fantastic car!! It responds very well, a bit heavy, but ive mastered it and am leaving them all in the dust:) . Cant believe its been three months since then - but a lot has happened!! Because of my seperation i have put the Octavia to the test - using its large boot to move house!!!!!! No trailer involved (got someone else to do that cause ive no hitch anyhow:rolleyes: ) Anyway, its good to be back. Thanks again to everyone for helping me make my purchase of the Octavia easier!! I will never go back and looking forward to the day that I will own the new Octavia but till then will keep on trying my luck in the lottery!!
  9. Wow, nice on the outside, but not so nice on the inside!!
  10. Cant stand them, very ill mannered when I approached them, then they turned around later in day to say the car i was interested in was sold. Funnily enough, went there a few days later, guess what - car was still for sale!!!!
  11. one problem - im in Ireland - and please don't get offended!!
  12. That was my original thought too, that the car would be too big for the engine, but im impressed, it has plenty of power, although I didn't go up any mountains!! And theres plenty of those round here!! My Vitara struggled at times, and it was purley cause the body was too heavy for the engine size. Bengie, yes there is a fabia 1.2, test drove that too...........unfortunately it had wet carpets in the back, and the boot is way too small to fit my kids bikes in too!!
  13. Ok, now the difficult question - the price?? What can I expect to pay?? Nothing fancy just bog standard, managable - ie I can shine them up type!!!
  14. (Ambiente I think), will know for sure tomoro, but was wondering if its possible to get alloys for this car?? I hate the plain hubs on it now, and since im keeping the car longterm would like to improve looks!! Thanks for advice
