  1. Hi Guys, had to have my rear discs and pads done completely trashed, Anyway rang round the usual respectable garages best price to supply and fit £249plus the vat. So i had a go at doing it myself once i got price for the discs and pads brake cleaner etc £49.00 Mintex branded, so not bad has far has quality goes. Everyth went smooth did not even have to remove caliper cradle has disc just slipped out and refitted no problem. 15 mins later new disc on retaining screw fitted new pads in place, got my trustee brake caliper piston compression tool out and attempted to push the caliper piston back , it was having none of it, so spoke to a few engineers who i could trust, "Need a rewind tool mate" buggar, can i borrow one "no but you can come and use a lift and use it" So it was a case of removing new disc and putting the old parts back together and poppong to the mates garage, again disc and pads no problem had removed and refitted with new parts in under 20 mins once car was in the air and the wheels off, then came winding the pistion back in on bothe side, bloody nightmare took both of us 20 mins a side to eventually get them back to refit. so i am expecting to fit new rear calipers next time. check for binding and sticking the sliders are fine . So looks lik i will be doing more jobs on the car i can when you look at the savings.

  3. HI Guys. I have a 2015 Skoda Octavia 1.6TDI Estate, been a great car only just starting to get some problem, The front assist has come up with a error, Unavailable, it has done this before but rectified itself once the radar wash washed /cleaned. Can someone advise if the error would still be the same if the radar was faulty ? Can anyone recommend a in expensive diagnostic tool which can clear the error. Any advice greatly appreciated. Regards Mark.
  4. Thank you for the offers of help. Unfortunately you are both a little too far for me to travel. That said if I ever find my self in the area I will contact you . thank you for your assistance best wishes for the coming festivities and holiday .
  5. Hi can you advise on vcds diagnostics. If you can can you advise what will be best for me to purchase I have a 2015 Skoda octavia 3 estate. I am looking for a reliable tool to enable me to do my own servicing and minor repairs. Any advice appreciated, regards Mark
  6. That’s good to know, I have know a few friends who have encountered problems some time later, we all diagnosed either poor quality fuel caused problem or possible air in system. The problem happened roughly a week after they had changed fuel filter
  7. i have found some info. but really would like the wiring diagrams so i can check for circuit faults and wiring breaks/shorts etc. i am searching the web and thanks for the information. appreciate your help and advice.
  8. Hi frinklyn that’s what I did filled the filter housing once new filter was put in before if refitted the upper metal plate assembly with fuel pipes on. Can you recommend anywhere I can get a service manual such as Haynes etc. I can only see web based tech guides. Must admit not repaired or serviced a car for sometime and did enjoy doing it.
  9. Thank you for the reply. I would of thought there was a simple procedure to follow for purging / priming the fuel system. I used to have a LR Discovery TD5 engine that had a simple procedure to prime the fuel system. I know that if you try to start without fuel it can damage components. I am also looking for a service manual if you know where to o Tain one Octavia 2015 1.6 Tdi
  10. Octavia 1.6TDI Service. After years of paying what i think is extremely high prices for servicing my car to keep the warranty. My car has now come out of warranty and i have decided to carry out the servicing my self. Took me around two hours for first service. I was paying just short of £200 for a basic service and over £300 for a major service with the dealer. Its has cost me two hours of my time and I will be looking at getting a new oil filter screw in cartridge has mine has a deformed socket head. they are made of a tough plastic and who ever worked on the car prior have obviously not used the correct size socket. I am also interested if these become brittle over time and crack/break with fatigue.( let me know your experience) All appears to be as it should be no warning lights on. I do not know of any way to perform a fuel purge without the aid of a computer or diagnostic tool. So i ensured the fuel cup was full of diesel before fitting the top plate. I expect next time i service i can do in well within a hour once i have every tool to hand and now i know what i am doing. I have used high quality parts ( VAG Cert) and saved a lot of money. That said if i encounter a problem does anyone know of a affordable diagnostic tool that actually works well with the skoda

  13. Hi guys can you activate extra functions on the Octavia. When I purchased Land Rover all optional extras where already fitted to car you just had to purchase switch and get land rover computer to enable option and of you go, is this something that can be done with Skoda ? Once again all your input greatly appreciated
  14. Thank you WG100 will check them out.
  15. Hi Guys, new to skoda and loving the car. i have been having a look around the car over the last week of owning it and , rtying to put a list of parts together which i could replace my self without having to use a garage. Discs and pads, shockers and springs etc. you get the idea basic service bits. Can anyone recommend a supplier of quality parts which will not break the bank.for example when i required Landrover parts found a few companies which could get you any part you wanted original and third party at a fraction of the cost of the authorised dealers, so not compromising the running or safety of the car. any suggestions or recommendations appreciated.
