  1. Thought I would update, as I finally got the car back on Friday. In summary, the whole fuel system has been replaced (high pressure fuel pump, lifter, fuel lines/filters, secondary pump, rail, injectors). All in the parts cost came to £7400, with circa 75hrs of master tech, but the garage reckons they will only be able to claim back 20hrs in warranty time. So, all in it's just over a £10k warranty claim. (seems to be a bit of an issue with VW group cars, as the master tech was saying that the Audi garage over the road had 2 cars in with the same issues currently) But annoyingly, the car is now smoking under the bonnet quite heavily, so it's gone back in for that (I was warned it may smell of diesel for a bit, but not warned that it would smoke like an old webasto heater), as well as the fact that they forgot to put a piece of carpet back from underneath the rear seats
  2. Apparently all the parts needed to replace the system arrive next week. Here’s to another 3wks before I get it back. Will ask for a breakdown of their time and expected warranty claim costs - will be interesting to see what it all comes to
  3. Not sure, but I do know they have already swapped out two fuel sensors, the main car battery and also an injector valve so far. As well as that, they have had to use some of the testing kit from vw hq which takes a bit of time to get. They have said that they have to follow the instructions by vw hq as to what to do from one stage to the next
  4. Wondering if anyone else has had this before and possibly what the cause could have been. Never had a car do this to me before, with such an impact. as it stands I will have been without the car for 2 months now whilst they have been undertaking investigations (at my local main Skoda dealer)
  5. That’s what I’m thinking too. Prob won’t be keeping the car then much longer, especially if some metal filings may have made their way into the engine…. the dealer is swapping out the fuel system, but there is no guarantee that it hasn’t gone further. Do you think that’s a potential cause?

  7. Just wondering if people have had issues with their fuel pump on their Karoq. Mine is a 21 plate 2.0TDI (150) 2wd with just 28,000 miles on the clock. The car has been in at the garage since 2nd Nov on a slow start issue & after the dealer has changed a couple of fuel sensors, battery, injector valve, they have now detected the issue of the high pressure fuel pump failing. It's so bad that they have discovered metal filings in the fuel pump itself. As such, it now means that the dealer needs to replace virtually the whole fuel system (injectors, low pressure pump, fuel pipes etc). Are there any other things to look out for, as I'm really starting to lose confidence in the car with such a significant issue. Just glad it's under warranty
  8. Have gone from a Touareg via Alhambra to a Kodiaq. Apart from torque I don’t miss it at all, and space wise there isn’t much in it tbh. kodiaq is a direct competitor for discovery sport, Tiguan allspace, Seat Tarraco, Peugeot 5008. Has more space than a q5 or x3, but overall not as big as an x5 or q7
  9. Just come back from France where we did 1300 miles in a couple of weeks. We have the 190 version and with the car being fully laden it was a breeze. With the 150 I test drove previously I could see we would have struggled. Happy with the 43mpg with a boot fully loaded and 4 of us onboard.
  10. Just to let you all know there is a 3 mobile broadband deal out there st the mo, with 20gb of data per month for the price of 2gb. That means £8 per month, new mifi device. works well for us, as all we will do when in France in the next week is use the sim in the car on the way down and then put it in the mifi unit for Wifi for everyone when we are there. its a really good device too they are in effect giving away http://www.three.co.uk/Discover/Devices/Huawei/E5573bs-322_4G_Mobile_Wi-Fi?memory=0&colour=White
  11. Couldn’t get to the garage today and have driven locally where it hasn’t lost any pressure at all all day. As the goo has done its job and plugged the hole, is there any point in the plug?
  12. Well the verdict is in. Unscrewed and pulled the screw out of it (looks like an old roofing screw), and the goo has plugged the gap. Inflated the tyre to the correct pressure, reset the pressure gauge and hey presto, so far all good. That’s £160 saved so far...
  13. Can the seal inside definitely be repaired? Tempted to remove the screw and see what happens ref the goo

Hi, picked up a delightful screw in my tyre today and pressure sensor flagged to me of the drop in pressure (only a 3lb drop). i have only done 4600 miles on the pirelli’s and was still hoping for the hole to be plugged. If not, then it’s a replacement tyre, but reading in the manual it says that tyres should be replaced ‘axle by axle’, which in theory means both tyres. Would rather not as they are £160 a tyre! Anyone had something similar and what did you do in this position? Any help appreciated.
