  1. Hi all, I have a skoda octavia 1.6tdi from 2016 with 35000 miles on it. At 18000 miles the clutch was replaced under warranty because of the gear getting stuck in reverse and i had to put a good amount of force on it to get it back in neutral. Since the clutch has been replaced, i have the feeling that the gearbox doesn't change gears smoothly anymore. It's the worst when i change gear from 2nd to 3rd gear. It feels like when putting it in 3rd there is this metal edge where i have to push by before it clicks in 3rd gear. The feeling is worse with a cold engine and even much worse with temperatures below 8 degrees celsius. My car drives very smooth, but because everytime i have this 'edgy feeling' when changing gear from 2nd to 3rd, it ruins the driving experience. Sometimes when its cold en i change from 1st to 2nd i also get i very little noticable cracking feeling , like when you dont clutch well and you crack the gearbox or like when you would put the gearbox in reverse before you stand completely still (i never do this to be clear but its the same feeling/sound). Doe anybody know what this could be? The mechanic of skoda says nothing is wrong with the gearbox, but that same person told me when they changed the clutch that the synchromesh of the gearbox where fine, while i found out later that they didnt even open the gearbox so i dont completely trust this mechanic. Can changing the oil of the gearbox help with this problem? Or any other suggestions?
  2. That's nice as long as you can keep up with her lol
  3. Ok that makes sense to me I'm from Belgium so i don't think you can help me out looking for a good chiptuner. There are a lot of chiptuners in Belgium, but only a handfull of them makes good custom maps and have an excellent reputation like dvxperformance, BRP, ASD, EPP and ATH (auto tune heinz). In the Netherlands, wich is about a one hour drive from where i live, there is VAG specialist and JD engineering who also have an excellent reputation. They all offer about 140-150 hp and 310nm after a stage 1 tuning (chiptuning).
  4. Those are brutal figures you have right there. I don't think i will have to be worrying about my clutch then and just have to find me a decent chiptuner instead. Thanks for the information AMD87 and have a nice day!
  5. Hahaha and I guess you want to swap wives also then. No thanks John, i'm happy with my life just how it is right now! I'll figure out myself if i'm blessed enough to become 57 years old.
  6. According to your image, there's not a lot of difference between being 37 and being 57.
  7. I would agree if you were the only member on this forum :p Being 38 myself, it only take two more years before i can relate to you :p
  8. I was just asking for information John and my question was posted 2 days ago without getting any reaction so I wanted to 'up' it again. Didn't mean to be disrespectfull or offend somebody I'll update my profile. The car make and model is mentioned in the title of my topic.
  9. I found the gearbox code and its a OA4. How can i find how much nm the clutch can take using this code?
  10. Thanks John2017, I'l look up the gearbox code and see what i can find.
  11. Nobody who can answer these questions? I cannot find any information about this on the internet.
  12. Hi all, My name is Mcnab, i'm from Belgium and own a skoda octavia 1.6tdi 110hp manufactured in 2016 with a 5gear manual gearbox. I would like to have it chiptuned and i found a respectable tuner who can give my octavia 145hp and 308nm after a remap. The tuner states that the clutch of this octavia with a 5gear gearbox can take up to 380nm so its safe to tune it to 308nm. Can someone give me some information on how much Nm the clutch can take and how much hp the gearbox of this type of skoda can handle? Does anyone have information on the turbo that is installed on this engine and the flywheel? Is it of a decent quality or are there some know weak points on this engine? The tuner i have contacted is a verry respectable tuner, but i want to know the facts before i make a decision wether or not i have it chipped. The car has now ran about 30.000miles and is just out of warranty. Greetings Mcnab
