  1. Just noticed a new noise today that came out of nowhere. Went for a longer than normal drive (160 miles in total) with no issues at all. However on the return journey about halfway back started noticing a strange buzzing noise coming from the engine. Noise only comes on when coasting or changing gears basically anytime when I’m not accelerating. The noise goes away instantly on accelerating. Initially only noticed it on higher speeds (over 60mph) but then started noticing it at lower speeds (40mph etc). Any ideas ? Car serviced and MOT a month ago. Engine oil temp was 91 for most of the Journey on a mix of roads. On a positive it averaged 52mpg for the journey. 1.2 TSI
  2. Sorted, found the blown fuse and replaced. Working perfectly now. Thank you 👍
  3. Went to drive my car to work this morning and the fan/blower is not working, in that it does not turn on at all. I’m guessing it could just be a fuse but I’m Struggling to find the right one and all the ones I’ve checked appear fine.
  4. I’ve got mine booked in to the local garage I use (I trust them). They’re going to give it the once over and check the timing chain for me.
  5. No it’s just a 1.2 TSI SE...... I think the taxation changed from a certain year so maybe from 2014 onwards the same engine is much more. That’s why I decided on an older model to keep costs down. Yours is probably much nicer than mine but I’m happier with the tax costs.
  6. I appreciate this has been talked about probably thousands of times and I’ve touched upon it in one of my earlier posts a little. I have a 2013 1.2 TSI SE. On checking mine was registered Nov 2013 so a late 2013 build. I understand there was issues with the timing chains and tensioner son earlier models. Would my model be one of the updated revised versions without the tensioner or timing chain issues ? Sorry if this has been done to death, it’s the only thing that I’m concerned about, I love the car and I intend to keep it for as long as ever.
  7. I’ve read it has a chain and not a belt, I take it these don’t need changing for some time and early models had issues. What’s the situation with 2013 models and the timing chain?..... do they need anything doing and if so what mileage am I looking at. Also, and it could be me being a bit picky. It sounds like it’s making a whirring noise as it drives, nothing crazy or anything just not as silent as I expected, although when parked up you can hardly hear the engine ticking at all, but on pulling away with the window down it sounds like a fair scraping/whirring (very difficult to describe). It drives perfect though so don’t know if this is just a characteristic of the engine.
  8. Hi, I have recently returned to Skoda after a brief fling with Vauxhall. I used to have a Skoda Citigo but needed a bigger car with larger rear seats due to a growing family. Instead of staying faithful and considering a larger Skoda, I turned to the dark side and bought a 1.8 petrol Vauxhall Insignia. The car was great but reliability appalling, in my 6 months of ownership I must have spent a fortune on repairs and a blown head gasket just topped it all off. Anyway rewind to a few days ago and I am now the very happy and proud owner of a 2013 Skoda Rapid SE 1.2 TSI. Although the Rapid is smaller than my old Insignia, the interior space is way bigger, it’s like the tardis, plus the build quality and ride is so much nicer. £30 tax and much, much better mpg helps massively. Mine did not come with a spare wheel or space saver just a tyre inflation kit, I know you can get Rapid space saver wheels off eBay, but will any other Skoda space saver fit, mine has 15 inch alloys so would the space saver from a Citigo also fit ? Also, anything I need to be aware of with the Rapid....... it’s done 86,000 miles, full service history and has just been given a full service and MOT which it passed with no advisory’s. many thanks
  9. Hi, Has anyone ever had any issues with the doors on the Citigo. Mine is a three door and over the last couple of days it has developed a creaking tapping noise coming from the drivers door. It’s only heard at slow speeds over small bumps and sounds like metal on metal tapping. I’ve tried putting felt strips in the door jam but it still makes the tapping noise. When ive checked the door catch it looks like they’re not perfectly lined up like the passenger side, maybe a millimetre or two out. Any my idea what this could be, could it be the alignment ?
  10. I know this has been covered numerous times on this forum as well as the VW Up forums, but what is an acceptable noise from the engine? The reason I ask is that I have recently purchased a used Citigo SE and the engine is very raspy. It doesn’t matter what gear I’m in or how fast I’m going, as soon as I accelerate I get a raspy noise from the engine. It’s almost as if the exhaust is blowing, however you can’t hear it outside of the car, only from inside. I’ve visited my local Skoda dealer and the mechanic pushed down on the air filter and said give that a go, but it’s still there. Is is this just something I have to ge used to, i’ve listened to a friends 2016 VW Up and it doesn’t sound like mine at all, but could this be because it’s newer than mine (mine is a 2013 model).
  11. Hi guys, just wanted to say hello, nice to see a forum dedicated to the Citigo, I am slowly reading through all of the posts. I owned a 2016 Seat Mii by Mango since new, loved every bit of it but made the huge mistake of trading it in a couple of months ago for a Peugeot for personal and practical reasons. Anyway I regretted my mistake and realised that I’d been the biggest fool on planet earth so decided to switch back. After a bit of research I decided upon the Skoda Citigo for a number of reasons, and managed to purchased a used Citigo SE 60bhp on a 2013 plate, 34k on the clock in red and in immaculate condition inside and out from my local Skoda dealer. Only had it a few days but it puts a smile on my face every time I take it out for a spin and I have committed myself to never ever switching again. Although it’s technically a drop in spec from the Seat Mii, it’s in essence the exact same car, albeit it doesn’t have leather interior, daytime running lights, alloy wheels or electric wing mirrors. But, everything else is pretty much the same, to be honest looks wise the Citigo blows the Mii out of the water in my opinion. I intend to purchase some black alloys and to get the rear windows tinted just to give it a more sportier look, but it’s a cracking looking motor and I’m over the moon with it. My questions are : I have the 60bhp version compared to my Mii which was a 75bhp, my Citigo sounds a bit raspy below 2000 rpm, I didn’t notice this as much with my Mii, so was wondering whether this is something to do with it being the 60bhp, or whether it’s just due to it being a slightly older car. I know I shouldnt compare the two cars but with them being so similar it’s difficult not to. It just seems really noisy in low revs almost like a tractor but when I open it up it’s fine and purrs like a kitten and virtually silent although it does have that Porsche sounding rev that we all love. Also the gear box seems to make a low level noise which I can only describe as a sort of hissing noise when idling. This immediately stops when I press the clutch down. Does anyone know what this could be ?...... I have a three month warranty with the vehicle so would it be worth getting it checked out or is it normal. Other than the noisy low revs and the strange noise from the gears when idling I can’t fault the vehicle. Thanks in advance.
