  1. I’ve never checked fuses or relays. The warning light would come on and that was the only indication of a problem. No limp mode and it would reset after cycling the ignition. When dismantling the fuel rail and lines, I never had any metal particles. The real issue is the metal particles. As stated by sepulchrave, the pump is the prime suspect for not starting. A fuel pressure test would confirm it
  2. Metal particles are not great. If it were me I would try anything. There is a real possibility that there will be metal particles in all the bits and pieces. Nothing to loose I would say.
  3. No longer have the car and it was never resolved. Car always started and only ever generated the fault when trying to accelerate from too low revs. Didn’t go into limp mode and the light reset when ignition turned off and back on. Not fuel pump or sensor. Local VAG specialist garage diagnosed a sensor, but only because they couldn’t find a fault when diagnosing. A mystery. Sorry I can’t be of more help. Good luck.
  4. Lockdown has prevented me getting hold of the car to check this out. Will be checking the alternator output as soon as I can and will report back.
  5. Hargur, I haven’t found a solution, or at least I haven’t found a component that has been found to be faulty. Use of the gear box to keep the revs above 1500 rpm and not trying to accelerate too hard from low revs has meant the light doesn’t come on. Have you established what the fault code is that brings on the light?You
  6. This is my son's car and when I drive it the problem doesn't come up. As soon as he would drive it, the fault would show up before he had travelled a few hundred yards. He was changing gear far too early and accelerating far too hard at low revs which would bring on the fault. Fault doesn't show up any more. thomasaspin, how did you diagnose the alternator was the problem? What voltage were you getting?
  7. Had to a local VAG specialist for some diagnostics and declared the injectors were all good and could not explain the issue.

  9. Update on what I have done so far: Removed the N290 Metering Valve - clean as a whistle. No debris Replaced the in line pressure regulator/filter under the rear offside. Checked all connections I can investigate. When I drive the car I do not get the fault. When my son drove the car after the last service he phoned me to say the light was back on! He hadn't even gone a mile. Driving style would appear to influence the occurrences. It would appear that the car doesn't like being accelerated from low revs. It is an underpowered car designed for economy. If you try and accelerate hard from 1500 rpm the light comes on and the low rail pressure fault is recorded. My advice to him was to keep the revs a little higher and use the gearbox more when wanting to accelerate. Fault light hardly ever comes on, and when it does it is when combines low revs and high gear to accelerate. Living with it for now. Anyone else experienced a similar phenomenon?
  10. My local dealer, and I suspect most others will price match! However A genuine quotation must be presented for price match, within a 5 mile radius. If you ask for a written quote from a garage they know what it is for. The dealer knows you are unlikely to go to that length. For me, the dealerships rely on loyal customers and the promise of something special from a dealer who "knows your car". They regularly fall short on customer service with SKODA UK and the Dealer having different views and interpretations of customer service. I was quoted the replacement times and schedules by SKODA UK customer service. However on looking back at my invoices they have carried out service not required in the timescale. I recently looked into extending my warranty. One of the cover conditions is SUDDEN FAILURE of a component! You have to read the small print! I asked them to explain what would happen if I reported that a wheel bearing was noisy and in effect failing but not subject of sudden failure. Would that be covered under the warranty? Skoda customer service response was "Should you have any issues with the car we would advise that you take this to a dealership to diagnose to see if this would be covered." Not a great response. It is not the dealer that provides the additional warranty. They just report the fault. Skoda is not alone in this, every manufacturer is the same. However I do like my Skoda

  12. I have a 2017 Octavia FL 1.6Tdi DSG on a fixed annual - mileage related service schedule. I wanted to know what the service schedule was for the car, what was changed and when, so emailed Skoda and asked. Apart from the oil and filter which is the simple one, every year or 10,000 miles everything else has some pretty scary mileage and time scale replacement periods compared to what I am used to. All of them carrying the usual Stealership premium price for carrying it out. Brake fluid change - 3 years then every 2 years. Pollen filter - 4 years or 80,000 miles Air filter - 6 years or 60,000 miles Fuel filter - 6 years or 60,000 miles Cam belt - 5 years or 140,000! Why there is such a difference in mileage and time for this is a mystery. DSG. No service requirement at all. So if you are buying a used Skoda, or at least an Octavia, between 4 and 6 years old, make sure that the extra items have been done or be prepared to pick up the tab for all the filters and cam belt replacements in the first year or two of ownership.
  13. No I haven't, but it is my next task when I manage to get it for a service in a few weeks as it is my sons. He's just done a 300 mile round trip and the fault came on once on the way there and not at all on the way back. Very frustrating.
  14. I have had it to a local VAG specialist who did not pinpoint anything specific but suggested the fuel rail sensors. Any assistance would be very much appreciated. Thank you
