  1. The Verdict.....l Well done to those of you who said it was casting flash as that is the verdict from those that know (personally never heard of it) although it was apparantly quite a severe looking cast flash which to the lay person, i.e. `me` would have looked very ominous. Hey ho! wish I had asked you guys earlier saved me a lot of grief. It is apparantly, as someone suggested, a common condition especially on mass produced castings and is harmless. You live and learn. Cheers everybody thank you all for your input. Jake.
  2. Some misunderstanding with regards to the repair I mentioned, bad choice of words by me then! The 'fix' is replacing the pan with a brand new one obviously. 🙄
  3. Thank you all for your input. Okay whatever its called I have not got a clue but my Skoda dealer I have shown it to this morning has said he and his head honcho mechanic have never seen anything like it, neither had the M.O.T people (As you will appreciateIt it was not part of the test by the way) and neither had the service personnel at my local garage. All have advised to get it repaired the quote being £361 with a re-use of the existing and new oil. To a lay person it is a frightening position to be in as it looks as if at any minute some of the deepest canyons/cracks could expand therefore what am I to do. It will be done next week! If the replacement cast is normal and smooth as you would expect then the current one was and is faulty at the time of manufacture. In which case I shall be making a claim. Will update the post as and when I have something.
  4. This is one of those early Karoq's that suffered from the engine stall problem and 'kangarooing' on starting off. It still has the jumps on a regular basis it is 4 years old and has done only 8600 miles. Wonder if any other 'jumping' Karoq owners have had similar problems. https://www.dropbox.com/s/fezhkij0e21ldss/20220915_171736.jpg?dl=0
  5. How on earth has this happened. There is no external damage or evidence of leaks anywhere
  6. Despair! That's my thought! Seems to me that whilst the upgrade(s) remove the dangerous stall problem and the kangaroo seems to go on holiday it must have bad weather because when it comes back it's as miserable as before it went! 😁
  7. Yes and that's a shame, likewise it's going to be my last Skoda and is the third one the other two, (a Citigo for my wife and a glorious Octavia for me ;-D), were great cars hence the Karoq.
  8. It's obviously a bit of sarcasm Scot5, calm yourself.
  9. Wow! Scot5 (or Sherlock if you prefer) What I have posted is correct, my car was doing well since the April update apart from the slight jerk when pulling away and in all other respects it is a good car and I have said so. However after 8 months for the kangaroo to come back (for whatever reason) is to me further evidence that the fault has not been properly resolved. The baring gave up the ghost and was fully investigated by my dealer and the cause put down to a faulty baring being installed and has nothing to do with kangarooing, potholes or a curse from VAG! You may have plenty of time to drive to your dealer and question them about this and that but I certainly do not and why on earth should I have to? Having owned many cars over the years from new including two previous Skoda models this is the first one which had safety issues which were not accepted by the manufacturer and was followed by a long wait for a solution to the so called `characteristic` (which was their description of it) indicates to me a serious problem with customer relations hence I`m out a here! Thank you for your contribution and your wit, it is after all the best form of flattery so they say. 🥱
  10. Yes you are quite right and I am sorry about that and I have been somewhat embarrassed to not report that during January when my mileage increased considerably during cold morning starts the kangaroo was back! This on top of a wheel baring needing replacing and all the previous inconvenience etc has ****ed me off completely.
  11. Seems VAG have stuck two fingers up to all those who have been shafted by them with the previous models of this engine and (amazingly in such a relatively short time) brought out this variant for all future sales. Personally I cannot wait to get rid of my Karoq later this year and be done with them! Hope all goes well for you and there's nowt up with thee English it's better than marn and I was bone and bred theer! ;-D
  12. If I was you with my current hindsight I would return your vehicle immediately as a rejection and choose another manufacturer.
  13. Spot on in my opinion! It's the whole sorry lot of the franchise dealers for VAG range. There's no consistency between any of em. Glad you are sorted.
  14. You betcha plus courtesy car full valet and a smile.
  15. Well my Karoq has performed very well since the update apart from a wheel baring giving up the ghost,(under 4000 miles on clock) wonder why? Never happened to me before in all my years of motoring. So to answer your question. Yes!
