  1. Wow £1200 to repair, assuming this includes replacing the clutch and flywheel?
  2. Yep, but if its the slave (always get the two mixed up) clutch and flywheel may as well get replaced and thus becomes a rather expensive repair!
  3. Hi no, didn't get to the bottom of it. Ended up selling the car and won't look at any German VW group car going forward, far too many reliability problems with them.
  4. Never heard about this mod and not sure if it would be the same on the Octy - you'd imagine it is, however the mk3 Octy is based on the MK7 Golf so could be different. Did you replace your slave cylinder and was the clutch/flywheel also done at the same time?
  5. Is it worth bleeding the clutch to see if this helps? Or is there a bigger risk to having this done, i.e. slave cylinder failing completely?
  6. So after a week or so of spraying the Glow Plug with PlusGas, it still wouldn't budge this morning and mechanic wasn't risking snapping it. However, the EML has gone off and not sure why! Not cleared the error code so kinda confused, anyone know why?
  7. Have been spraying with PlusGas for a couple of days, noticed quite a bit of it just sat around the glow plug - is this actually going down into the area and is there any issue with it being sat where it is?
  8. Well ordered some PlusGas, will give this a blast over the coming days to see if it free's up the glow plug.
  9. Agree and the car has been running fine with the 3 working plugs, however I have a EML on which is annoying to see every time I drive the car.
  10. Gonna give this a go.. Question though, were you glow plugs seized or did you attempt to remove before using the Plusgas?
  11. No its defo this as the code was cleared and then returned a few days later. I'd like to change the faulty one but its proving rather difficult to get it out lol
  12. Do I carry on driving it until they all fail? It's just that if I come to sell the car, can't be advertising with the engine management light on.
  13. So mechanic sprayed some form of lubricant or wd40, left for a few hours.. Even took the car for a brisk 30min drive to get engine nice and hot but made no difference.
  14. Looking for some advice, had my engine management light come on last week when weather was a little colder than normal. Got around to plugging into VCDS and was presented with the following error code: 497 - Cylinder 4 Glow Plug Circuit (Q13).... And some other text Took the car to my local garage who confirmed it was defo a faulty glow plug however, the plugs would not budge and he didn't want to risk breaking them. Now the car starts and drives perfectly fine but I have this management light on even after clearing the fault! What are my options and is there a way of getting these seized plugs out?
  15. I'm hoping its not this as its likely to be an expensive repair!!
