  1. you'd think it would have been a selling point but from my experience most people get scared the minute they know a car had been played with. plus the map was by red dot and though the car has been fine with me I dont want the new owner to come on here and get scared and then i get a bad reputation. I'd rather sell the car knowning the future owner will be perfectly happy with it. it's that whole thing, if it was me buying the car and something went wrong becuase of the map i'd be a bit ticked off about it
  2. So i've just had my car put back to standard so gone from 210 to 180bhp. I've done this as im selling the car and i dont want the future buyer to be concerned about any engine tuning. anyways on my drive to work ... OMFG .... it's so slow. this is testemant to whoever is thinking about getting a REMPAP -- DO IT DO IT NOW !!!!! B
  3. see now you have me worried lol. eventually ill pop into jabba but so far the car has been sweet since we regulated the boost a bit
  4. the reason it's on is becuase of this surging issue that everyone complains about ... when mine started doing it the think we noticed was that boost pressure wasnt holding and for some reason the wastegate was opening to early so basically we have fooled the wastegate into thinking there's less boost then there actually is. at teh time i was thinking return to standard and see how it goes but it's been fine for a year now and iv had no problems with teh car so iim leaving it.
  5. well i disagree it's not really a cowboy moment. at the end of the day essentailly we have a manual boost controller in place. I had the usually surging issues that everyone compains about and since iv used this to regulate boost presssure car runs like a dream. I've had no errors since, everything runs sweet and i have the power i wanted. just becuase it's unconventional doesnt mean it wont work. Also i have a VAG specialist check it out and they said it's fine. the replaced by coilpacks when they went bang and i asked them to look at this whilst they had the car. He commented on the smoothness of the ride and the power that i had and it was all positive. so basically im happy
  6. guys, iv just noticed something odd with the car, maybe im being really cautious or panicking for no reason but at a stand still the car seems to flicker the revs up and down by just a touch. never noticed this before. i made sure i had all electrics off and it still didnt it ... when driving it's fine just at a standstill. anything i should be worried about? thoughts/opinions???
  7. my mate runs www.wheelrepair.co.uk in preston. i dont know how close or far that is to you but he's very very good. he's a moderator on teh GT4 owners club. Ask for Jerry and tell him Birdie sent you.
  8. i used them. the map took a few attempts to get sorted. but it seems to work ok. my only issue is that it wasnt holding boost pressure properly. we replaced the recirc valve and the n75 valve but this didnt help. so in the end we put a release valve in teh pipe between the recirc valve and the wastegate to regulate the pressure. basically the wastegate was opening up to early preventing boost pressure from building up. im not sure if this is map issue or not but for now the car seems to be ok. i havent really had any issues but i think a trip to Jabba is in order to get the car checked over and get there opinion on the map.
  9. in may ... hmmm i think i saw your car, i have a silver octavia and i think he was doing your map before he did mine. interesting.
  10. billy, when did you get your car mapped by red dot racing ... is the same company that's based in watford that might have done my map? im gonna pm you my mobile number please give me a call later tonight if you can as i'd like to discuss this issue with you
  11. basically got into the car at the pub, drove about 50 yards when i decided to boot it. the car suddenly started juddering. loss of power and the engine management light. could this be a coil pack issue? i checked the MAF and it was still attached lol. basically any ideas before i take it to skoda. does anyone know of a good vag specialist in north london. thanks Bal
  12. i sort of had this. my issue is more that i have momentary loss of boost after my remap. i went back about 3 times to get it sorted. all the dyno information showed it was hitting 18psi and then dropping down to 14psi. i replaced the n75 with a n75j valve, didnt help.then replaced it with another n75 becuase we thought the original might be screwed didnt help. so i replaced the DV .. that didnt help. in the end we tracked it down to teh wastegate actuator. so i now have a release valve in teh pipe going from the DV to teh wastegate. unconventional i know but it works and im putting in a boost gauge to monitor boost pressure. im probably going to take it to jabba at some point to get them to check the map and maybe redo it.
  13. is there a guide to this as i cant find one from a search? otherwise how do i go abotu doing it. i can see any obvious screws etc so just give me a hint please. i need to get into the back of the stereo area as my JVC unit has a massive fuse which means the unit doesnt fit in properly. Bal
