I was really wondering if I also needed to replace the cable already in my car that connects to the USB as well as the USB end component. 5Q0035726E on their own are relatively quick and easy to find locally on eBay. The cables seem to need buying new from somewhere and that takes longer.

I'm just going though the process of upgrading my 2016 Octavia mib1 Amundsen to a mib2.5 Columbus and suspect (I haven't opened up the car yet) I will need the new 5Q0035726E USB for the Android/Apple mirror phone link. I can see the connectors are slightly different. Do I also need to replace the connecting cable or will the same cable work with a little trimming on the cable connector with the new USB? Looks to me that trimming the plug at the South Eastern corner should work if the wiring of the cable pin outs are the same.
