  1. Had the software update update carried out after experiencing the car dying at a junction only four days after picking it up, before this happened I was also experiencing the kangarooing effect, but was unsure how much of this was down to me getting used to a new car and driving a petrol for the first time in 15 years, or whether there was something wrong, actually glad I did have the power failure at the junction, although a bit unnerving, as it confirmed it wasn't just my imagination. The dealers were very good, when I went in they were aware of the issue, no need to demonstrate and confirmed there was an update available, which was primarily to deal with what Skoda refer to as the 'hesitation' at junctions and that the update 'should' also improve the first gear issue. Happy to say that since the update the car is a lot smoother in first gear, though could be smoother and so far haven't experienced any loss of power at junctions, though may be too early to be certain that this is resolved, I guess only time and cold weather will confirm this. I too was told that the car needs to do about 600 miles for the ECU to adapt and that it should improve after this.
  2. I got a call either Tuesday or Wednesday last week to say it was at UK port, can’t remember if they said which port it was at, but Exeter is the destination. No word since then though!
  3. There doesn’t seem to be much method in how orders are processed, had message from dealer to say it has arrived in UK! Ordered 2nd Nov Build week 10th Feb Arrived Emden 25th Feb Left Emden - 16th Apr
  4. Anyone else experiencing long delays still, my Karoq is still at Emden and has been since 25th February! Is this typical?
  5. Mine was built 2nd week of February, but still no sign of it, has been stuck at Emden for about a month now with Skoda apparently having no idea when it will be sent to the UK just that they are ‘working hard to get all vehicles shipped’!
  6. My Karoq was built second week of February, have been told for the last four weeks that it is at Emden awaiting shipping, initially the delay was because they were apparently trying to build as many as possible for the UK market before Brexit day and worrying about transport later, now the reason for the delay is that a number of ferries were cancelled last week because of the stormy weather, which is probably true to a degree. There are supposedly 4 ferries due to leave Emden in the next week so hopefully mine will be on one of these, but will probably have the problem with the lack of transporters when it does get to UK. Still being quoted the standard ‘estimated delivery in 3 - 4 weeks’, I’ve heard that quite a few times now!
  7. Thanks for your replies, I am juggling loan to value and monthly commitments a bit, so weighing up a few pros and cons. In addition to the financial aspect I am wondering if it is in my interest to own the car outright without finance. I have ordered a 1.5 manual and have recently been keeping an eye on the 'First Gear Issue' with some trepidation. I am certainly not minded to consider cancelling the order at this stage, when I test drove the 1.5 I didn't experience any issues and it is definitely the car I want, but if the worst comes to the worst and the kangarooing is as bad as some people seem to be suffering with is there any advantage (or indeed disadvantage) of VW/Skoda finance still having some sort of interest in the vehicle? I really don't want to tempt fate at all and am hoping for the best but is rejecting a car likely to any easier or harder if it is owned outright?
  8. Does anybody have any experience or understanding of part settling a PCP finance agreement, rather than withdrawing or settling in full? I placed the order for my Karoq in November and agreed the PCP deal with the Skoda contribution and two free services, with the intention of withdrawing from the agreement within the 14 day cooling off period. Due to a change of plans now with a new mortgage application I'm not going to have as much spare cash as I thought, so am considering paying off part of the balance. I assume this can be done, like any finance agreement, but am unsure how this affects the monthly payments on a PCP deal. In round numbers the amount being financed is £21,000 and the minimum guaranteed future value is £11,000 after 4 years, with monthly payments of £307. If if was to pay off say £10,000, would that mean I wouldn’t have to make any monthly payments (or very small payments) and then after 4 years pay the balance of £11,000 / hand the car back, or would Skoda halve the monthly payments to around £150 per month?
