  1. It's been a month and a few thousand miles since I got the latest update for my manual 1.5 Tsi Karoq & all is still good. No kangarooing or powerloss issues (tested with starts down to 2 deg C). The car is fixed & thank you to Skoda UK for the good customer service.

  3. I received a successful 'power loss issue' update in the spring for my Karoq 1.5 TSI 150ps manual (68 plate). I've just received the roll-up Service Camp 24EU update that also includes the 'Kangaroo fix' - so far so good. The proof will be when the frosty mornings start but so far with a 8 deg C start it appears much better. 😊
  4. Mine was built late Dec 18 & registered Jan 19 (1,5 Manual Karoq). I had the moving off issue (couple of scary moments when the car failed to pull away - almost like stall protection had kicked in which happened to Max Verstappen at the start of a recent F1 race when his car bogged down). The fix has solved this. If you pull away the engine appears to no longer let the revs drop below 1000 rpm and they bottom out around 1200 rpm.
  5. My fix for the first gear issue is still working 3000 miles at having it applied. I have got faith again to pullout quickly at junctions without the fear of the car not responding. It is quick off the line just like I had expected when I bought it. I need to chase up the separate fix for the kangarooing as it should be out soon. I got my issues sorted by going to Skoda UK directly - my dealership was did not know the fix was available.
  6. Done almost 1000 miles since my 1st gear power loss update & all still good - the update has solved the issue. I can accelerate away with confidence. Fuel economy is also slightly better. As its summer the kangarooing has not been an issue. I understand there is a second update soon to fix this.
  7. I called UK Skoda as they had to tell the dealer how to get the update on their systems.
  8. Got my update this week and so far so good. The car has not bogged down pulling away in 1st or 2nd - feels sportier. 😊 Still too early to tell if the kangarooing is fixed as it is too warm outside at the moment. Fuel economy the same or even slightly better as well.

  10. Will call skoda uk direct tomorrow. Do you have a good number for them?
  11. Now I am confused. They said they checked the Skoda system for my car (built Dec 18) and no update showing? Which dealer was this with?
  12. Dealer told me today that there is no update for my MY19 manual 1.5 TSI Karoq on their system. When I mentioned that other users on forums have had a fix (poss ECU 05E906018R) they said this was most likely scammers! Told fix coming Q2 still.

  14. Quick update. Took my car to my local Skoda dealer & they were excellent - great customer service They advised me the VW 1.5 TSI throttle/kangaroo issue is expecting a Q2 fix. They also adjusted my auto parking brake which was releasing too late making the biting point hard to judge/unpredictable. This has made it easier to balance clutch and accelerator when the car is cold to avoid kangaroo hopping & easier to pull away quickly without it bogging down with too low revs. Just need that fix in Q2.
  15. I think it could be a combination of things (sensitive accelerator, rpm dropoff from 1st to 2nd & autobrake release). Do you not find that the accelator is very sensitive at speeds below 20mph in 1st but also 2nd gear, especially from cold? Remember when you first learned to drive and what caused kangarooing? Coming up too quickly on the clutch and not increase revs enough as it bites and revs drop. Trying to get this right quickly is hard (at a junction) with a sensitive accelerator, gear ratio that drops revs a lot from 1st to 2nd; made worse if the parking brake is sticking (remember what happend when you left a manual parking brake on & pulled away with low revs - stall). I can stop the kangarooing by being delicate with accelator & clutch when pulling away (not acceptable still & lots of adjustment of driving position was required). I can avoid enging stalls by ensuring I have +1800rpm when pulling away and also changing up to 2nd (not acceptable as I've never had to pay so much attention to rpm with other cars). However, if the parking brake does not release immediately I need more revs than anticipated and can also experience a jolt. Not great if I'm trying to be sensitive and exact with accelator & clutch.
