  1. Hi, Currently my car stands on 360k kms - 2.0 TDI 4x2 (pre-facelift) I am facing a weird issue where when you stay above 120 kmph for most of the trip's time, the engine temperature increases to 95 celcius and comes back to 90 (which is normal) in few minutes. This is occuring from the past few days, sometimes it comes even when you are below 120. But most of the times happening above 120 kmph. It cannot be related to engine RPM as I tried this by driving the car in 2nd gear @ 3500 RPM for 45+ minutes. Oh and btw the timing belt was done I think at 358k kms or so, BUT the water pump was NOT changed. Could that be the cause? or the thermostat? The authorized Skoda Service Centre couldn't find anything related to it as well. Coolant check Temperature sensor check What else?
  2. Good question, but to be honest, I am lazy and the rest of the time busy in work Actually I will do that as soon as I get some time and update here.
  3. Hi, Searched around but couldn't find a specific topic. Any idea if you can replace the current 16' steel rim with a 16' alloy and 215/60 tyre but with less air, just so it can fit? don't want the false floor to raise and want to make it look normal as much as possible
  4. I actually do the basic service myself, hence there's no doubts with the filters. I am very tempted for a remap as cars that cost 1/3 of the Yeti are now better at acceleration than the Yeti!
  5. I am quite skeptical of a remap, given the car has done almost 350k kms and I am not sure if the engine / turbo would hold up the increased power. Also, is there any connection between the throttle and the emission update to the ECU they did?
  6. Nope, nothing on the dash. Yes, I checked the car multiple times for any fault code, no luck. Do I need to manually check the throttle position sensors? I never took a look at them. Apart from that, all filters were recently changed and on schedule.
  7. Hi, During the infamous emission scandal of VAG, all cars in India had their (I'm guessing ECU) updated. This resulted in loss of power, but to compensate for lesser emissions and being more fuel efficient. This was around on 150k kms. And immediately I noticed that the car became very sluggish, but I can live with it (a remap would fix the job). But apart from that I also noticed that on full throttle, there's barely any power and the car accelerates slowly!. In mid range, it's still good enough. Full throttle is where it loses everything. The car currently stands on 340k kms. The EGR and entire fuel system (common rail injection they say) was changed recentlu. Which includes injectors, pump, etc. So I don't think there's any problem with them. 2.0 TDI 4x2 (108 bhp & 250 nm)
  8. Thanks for the suggestions. I have got the Osram Next Generation Nightbreakers delivered, can someone tell me how to install them? I'm a complete newbie in this case. Given the traffic conditions in India and people who 90% of the time drive with their high beams on, it's difficult to see what's on the road as well as the highways / expressways are pitch black during night.
  9. Hi, current setup of the headlights gives very poor output at night on highway and in deep valleys where there is sheer darkness. I am looking to upgrade its stock H4 bulbs to something better which makes night driving easier on highways. Let me know which one would be the best for the car. Visibility is my only requirement. If there are other ways to increase visibility, let me know so! thanks. Its a Pre-FL btw.
  10. Hi, is it required to first remove the front bumper in order to remove the headlights? or can we do it without the need of removing bumper, if so, how?
  11. Is there any way to know if the reflector is damaged or not? Yes
  12. I am a bit skeptical about remapping my Yeti. It has ran about 250k kms or about 155k miles. I was told that remapping the car to increase power at such high mileage would stress out the engine. Is that true? Would custom mapping or in other words remapping would harm the engine?. It's a 2.0L TDI, EA189 2013 make. About 2 years or more, the guys at Skoda updated my car's ECU without my authorization to reduce power due to emissions scandal.
  13. Hi, I am noticing from a past few days that the headlight visibility just got even poorer on my Yeti, and I am yet to find any solutions to improve visibility. Buying a new set of headlights is damn expensive and I am told by the dealer that the LHD headlight's reflector is damaged. I am not sure whether it's the reflector which is damaged or something with the headlight fading away? The headlight is kinda blacklish compared to the RHD one. What could be possible solutions to improve night visibility? It's extremely poor for now.
  14. Hi, from where can I get fender flares like these: For my MY13 Yeti? (Pre-facelift) If there's any reliable source from where I can purchase it, please do share link. Need to have it shipped to India
  15. Pardon me if this is a wrong section I have posted the thread in.
  16. Hi, This is a problem which has been a pain for past one week. Due to work hours, I currently have no time to get the car checked, I'm trying to do it as soon as possible. Whenever you drive the car for good 30 minutes or more, turn off, try to turn it on and it refuses to. The car does cranks but the glow plug light does flash for 3 to 5 seconds. I wait a bit and let the engine cool down before I can finally start the car. This is pretty embarassing after you drive on a highway and stop at a petrol station. I'm not sure what the problem could be. Today, I had visited the authorised service centre and they told me to get the battery checked first before going ahead with anything else. I did as they told me to, though the new battery hadn't no change with the issue. I googled a bit, most of them are related to EGR valve while few of them to the diesel pump filter or fuel filter. I haven't checked the brake lights, is that relevant to the issue we are discussing on? I'm new to the forum! Had about 5 Skoda's in the past 20 years, no issue like this. Here is some details: Manufacturing date: 2013 Date of purchase: (December, 2013) Engine: Skoda 2.0 TDI CR Kilometres/Miles: 136k miles (220000 kilometres) Car is driven with extensive care.
