  1. Thanks - I’ll take a look Understood that will need to plug in - though luckily we will keep the car on the drive. Made me think that this will probably be a standard feature though on the PHEV due later this year as it’ll have a big battery on board! Maybe I keep things simple and wait to upgrade to that in a few years ... the car we’ve already will have heated seats and steering wheel to help Thanks for all the suggestions folks, much appreciated!
  2. That’s very helpful - thanks everyone :) will look at the options - though our budget can’t stretch to something around £1k - so interested to find out if the Defa solution is cost effective. Cheers
  3. Hi folks, firstly wanted to to say how helpful on here people have been so far - much appreciated So a quick question as I’m struggling to find a clear answer ... My wife would love to be able to pre-heat the car on very chilly mornings (she’s someone who really feels the cold) - and I understand on the continent the Superb has an auxiliary heating option through the app that’s disabled in the UK. What I’m not clear about is if you can get the heater fitted and the app enabled somehow in the UK. Can anyone help by letting me know what we need to fit - and even better recommending who might fit them (we’re south coast / Bournemouth)? Or at least put us out of our misery and let us know it’s not possible? Cheers
  4. Hi all, Just wanted to say a big thanks to all for the advice here - much appreciated. unferstood re the 1.5 problem being more manual related, so just the separate possible DSG reliability to be slightly wary about. Based on the advice here have taken the extra warranty for 5yrs in total - confirmed today by dealer (in Chichester - nice people). Now with the extra peace of mind, back to waiting and getting excited for when it arrives in 8-10 weeks now ... assuming Brexit doesn’t impact import, lol
  5. Hi, have recently ordered and and am awaiting a 1.5 TSI DSG. From the test drive I thought the engine was more than sufficient for a large car like this (am amazed the power they get out of a 1.5 compared to my old 3ltr Lexus I’m trading in). So unless you want outright speed I’d say the 1.5 will be best for mpg efficiency by a long shot over the 2ltr 272 bhp - and would guess that depreciation of the smaller engine car would be better too. If you’re only towing a small trailer and not a large caravan etc, then think you should be fine. from what I’ve read, I think the 1.5 would return 45ish mpg in real world driving - and the 2 ltr 272 bhp much less at around 30ish mpg. However that’s just what I’ve read and don’t (yet) have personal experience of the car - so will defer to other members with real experi nice
  6. Haha, thanks jb67 ... yes that’s the tricky thing with the internet - in that people mostly post about problems and you tend not to read about all the cases things are fine! Obviously a pain for everyone that has problems and wise to be cautious - but hard to get a balanced view including all the time’s it works out fine... will still get the warranty for peace of mind - but fingers crossed I won’t need to use it! cheers
  7. Great post Too Tall, thank you. Yes think I’ll definitely got for the 5 yr for peace of mind if nothing else. Talking with the dealer they acknowledged this is something people ask but said they just don’t see issues in their service centre - so maybe an early issue - or maybe just sales speak. personally, I suspect I’ll sell and move to hybrid or even electric within 5 years, so would probably leave it at that. Cheers
  8. When I spoke to the dealer they said that you can order the official one from Skoda before they start the build - so I guess you’re past that as it sounds like it’s being shipped now. However the dealer also said they did their own used warranty that you can buy that has the same level of cover (in this case 1yr extension more expensive than the Skoda one, but 2yr cheaper). So maybe have a word with the dealer and ask? cheers - and enjoy the new car!
  9. Ah, that’s super helpful thanks Mph25. So definitely sounds like an extended warranty is the way to go (give we already ordered and we need a petrol given will mostly be used for short trips. Plus we prefer an auto and have read the TSI and manual has other ‘kangarooing’ problems). Much appreciated
  10. Lol, nice one SplitPrism - sounds like you’ve had a blast! Enjoy ... I’m not at all jealous (well, not that much) looking forward to ACC also...
  11. Nice one - so presumably you must be getting from stock? Spoke to dealer today and build starts early April ... so a long wait for me :( Have fun picking it up tomorrow!
  12. Thanks - yes, have spoke to dealer and can extend the warranty as not yet being built (only ordered 2 weeks ago). The dealer also explained they do an extended warranty with the same cover (and similar price) I can opt in to down the line ... which seems sensible if I can get a better feel for how likely the 1.5 TSI causes problems. Any opinions on why that wouldn’t be a good idea? oh, and @splitprism - enjoy the Sportline, nice! Thanks
  13. Have just order a 1.5 petrol DSG - so am in the same boat as you (only read some concerns after ordering - so am doing some digging now). Given 3yr warranty and also that real world problems are probably a small % as people tend to shout about thing going wrong more than things going right - so am crossing my fingers (may get extended warranty if it’s a real concern and just sell when nearing the 5 yr mark). a tip on getting a good price is using an online quote site - I used CarWow and was surprised to get 25% off - though that includes PCP contribution. I hat helped me decide getting new A’s initially was thinking 3yr old. getting an SEL Exec like you also - so great minds
