  1. That seems a better idea if adjusting the low beam up would rise all other modes up too that would be bad, but maybe just bringing the highway mode speed treshold down like @Rodge suggests would be a good solution. Could that possibly be changed with the vcds? And could the beam still lift gradually depending on speed?
  2. Oh yeah I found on anohther thread that the highway mode actually increases gradually from 90 - 120 kmh. This could possibly be so gradual, that I wouldn't have noticed it between 90-105 kmh which I was driving.
  3. I haven't actually driven a car with halogen lights in a long time. But you are right that the edge of the low beam is noticably sharp with the LED lights. Maybe it has been the light which gradually fades to the distance with the xenon low beam which has given the impression of being able to see further and react more easily. I don't have any intention to make any DIY changes. But I was wondering if there's something wrong with the lights as it is nearly impossible to detect any change in the light patter in low beam or if they could do something to the lights in the shop to lift the beam a bit. As it looks in the images in my previous post (allthought they are some sort of artistic impressions) that there should really be a big difference in the light cone (length) between the different modes And it feels that there really isn't. I like that the LEDs seem more powerful which the sharp edge underlines. Even more I like the idea that the ligts adapt to different situations, but it seems here that all this is actually bad as the pitch blackness starts so close in front of the car.
  4. I also agree that on a dark and rainy winter night driving 80-100 kmh with low/dipped LED beam when high beam isn't on because of other vehicles and traffic the lighted area is just too short. I can't react to pot holes on the road. Or I can but the maneuvers need to be too fast to avoid them which makes it dangerous if it is at all slippery or icy. I unchecked the rain adjustment from lights settings but that didn't help. I don't know if a speed above 120 kmh would make the low beam cone way longer as someone wrote. Although it is illustrated in Skodas own grapchis the speed for the highway cone should be over 90 kmh. I can say there was no change at all when driving over and under 90 kmh. It's sad that there were now matrix lights available with the mk3 Ocu. Also xenons were better as my previous car was a bmw with xenons and I had no issue with the low beam then. I took these screenshots in Feb 2019.
  5. Funny thing that the European map "ECE A1 2019/2020 - only for 32GB SD". So the name suggests that no smaller SD card should be used than 32GB. My Octavia came with 16GB card. The Skoda shop only seems to sell 16GB cards. And no other than Skoda original card can be used Well I'm not really gonna drive around Europe anyways. Maybe that cluster size change would do it, but I think I'll wait until I really need all the maps.
  6. I got a response from Skoda and with these instructions Skoda Connect App started working in my S10. It was pretty simple. Just go to the phone settings > apps and find Skoda Connect App from there. Then select storage and click clear data and clear cache. After that the app started normally. I just did this so I don't know if this is a permanent solution, but at first glance it seemd to work.
  7. All seems up to date. Pie 9. Not sure about the exact version as it's Probably flavoured by Samsung. Samsungs latest updates are installed anyhow. The brand import company (or how is it said in English) is investigating. Will have to see if they come up with a solution. As I live in the north the ability to turn the auxiliary heater on is the main reason for using it. Also maybe the ability to check if doors are open and close them remotely. If no solution is found then maybe I'll use the Skoda Connect web site through a phone browser. That should do the same tricks I assume. Though the app would have been a lot handier.
  8. I'll answer to my self if this would help anyone. I now got the car with the phone box and I didn't accurately measure the box as it is quite a tight space, but it was over 15 cm wide, maybe under 16 cm though. So as an example Samsung Galaxy S10 fits there easily. with covers.
  9. I don't know about problems after a specific update or date, but when I got a new phone (Samsung Galaxy S10) the Skoda Connect app stopped working alltogether. I mean it won't open at all on the new the phone which loaded the app automatically from Play Store, as I had it (and happily used it) in my previous phone (Samsung Galaxy S7). Now when I click the Skoda Connect it just flashes very briefly and nothing seems to happen. If I try to open it again it says "SKODA Connect keeps stopping" and gives Android crash options to close/send feedback etc. On the old phone it still works fine. Wouldn't like to keep two phones just for the sake of this app. MySkoda app, Skoda One App and all other (more than 100) apps open normally in the S10. Has anyone else noticed similar problems that more recent phones or Android versions would crash the app? Could there be a some setting which prevents it from working?
  10. Hi! Restoring this topic from years back. I don't know if there's an answer for this somewhere else, but Google found this thread. I've ordered a new Octavia with the Phone Box hoping for less hassle with cables. Now I assume my current Samsung Galaxy S7 would fit in the Box but now I need to upgrade my phone before I get my car. As phone sizes have increased yearly I'm afraid that I'm paying for that option for nothing if new phones don't fit there. I've tried to as Skoda, but for some reason they don't seem to be able to give me an answer. I also found this page (air-charge) which suggests that two years back "normal" sized phones like Galaxy S8 would fit, but the Plus sized phones would not. Still the page says that phablet sized phones are incompatible and Wikipedia lists even my S7 into this category. These images (phoneInBox1, phoneInBox2) from Skoda don't really raise hopes as one phone looks like the S7 and seems a really snug fit and the other looks really old (and small) like even an S2 leaving a bit more space there. I don't really need the plus sized phones so that's not a problem. I would want a confirmation that for example the normal S9 fits there and will also charge itself and not be so tight fit that it wouldn't go all the way to the bottom of the box and therefore not charge. Does anyone know the dimension or can anyone measure the dimensions of their box for me :) I could still cancel the Phone Box option if modern phones are incompatible. - Mikko
