  1. I replaced the MAP on my father's 1.4 MPI (W Reg), as he was getting very low MPG and awful performance, I managed to find a brand new MAP on eBay for £19.99, Item: 330330539660. Works fine and the car is back to how it felt when it was first purchased four years ago!
  2. I cleaned my EGR last week, didn't change the gasket or seal as they were both in perfect condition. Can't say the same about the EGR, it was well and truly caked up. Took a lot of cleaning to get rid of the build up.
  3. 1998 Skoda Felicia 1.3 GLi, Had low mileage, a Petrol leak and more knocks/filler than metal. 1999 Skoda Felicia 1.3 LXi, Was a 1 owner and in Mint condition. Great car. 2003 Skoda Fabia 1.9 TDI Estate, Had 1 Vicar owner from new before me!
  4. Bought a set of these a couple of weeks back on ebay for £2.70 from a main dealer, haven't fitted them yet though. Thanks for the tips
  5. Managed to order a new filter from VW, got it back home and took the old one off, the excess fuel was a horrible black colour coming out the old filter! Put the new one on and the car would not start!, tried filling the filter with fuel, clearing any airlocks, priming the pump, but nothing would work. Had to put the old one back to get the car going. Will be taking the filter back to VW for a refund this afternoon. It was 6Q0 201 051 B, which appeared to be the correct one as on the dealers computer system. The only weird thing was the computer showed a three part system, but the filter was all in one, much like the old one that I was replacing.
  6. Thanks for your help, Been out to look at the filter again, managed to pull the label off, its a 6Q0 201 512, which has now been superseded by 6Q0 201 051 - a three part filter, valve and clip system. See http://www.mann-hummel.com/ukmf/upload/doc/HBVJUwimiQU.pdf for pictures Currently too far from the nearest Skoda dealer (40 miles), so will have to try a VW dealer in the morning as it also fits the Polo.
  7. I always use Tyre-Shopper, always found their prices good, and you can get the odd discount code etc.. They are fitted by National Tyres
  8. Looking to replace the fuel filter on my Dad's Fabia 1.4MPI, 2000 W Reg. Bought one in Halfords but was clearly the wrong one when attempting to fit, it only had two connectors, the old one has three hose connections. Does anyone know the part number, I think its 6Q0201511 but would like to check first. Many thanks in advance.
  9. Full Exhaust should be about £100-£115, The Cat would be about £60, Hope this helps.
  10. I just bought Quantum Oil from AVS / VWSpares, was delivered next day and the total came to £65 for 5L of Oil + Oil, Air, Fuel & Pollen Filters + a sump plug/washer. Fitted them all this afternoon.
  11. The Fabia Estate is essentially the same as the Hatchback just 30cm longer at the back. You will notice a big difference from a Felicia (I had two), I went from a 1.3 Felicia Hatchback to a 1.9TDI Estate and it is a much more comfortable and smooth drive.
  12. 14" Trims, I think the part number is 6Y0601147C for Comfort
  13. Just bought a 2003 Fabia 1.9TDI Comfort Estate last week with 109k miles on the clock.
  14. Had a Retest today, and passed. The rear excessive movement was just the top rubber mountings (didn't look too bad but were slightly compressed) - I changed the top cups and the two Rubber mounts on both sides. (£23 from Skoda) And in the end had a new Front Pipe and Catalytic Converter (£105 with gaskets/mounts/fitting kit), plus the Middle Section supplied & fitted with the two front parts for £80. I must admit, the car is so much smoother, quieter and seems to be running cooler, as in traffic it used to quickly heat up. (I wonder if the Cat was partially blocked).
  15. Try putting it into first, then straight across and down into Reverse - this is what I do and it never grinds. It does sound bad when you go straight into reverse
  16. Thanks for all of your help, Booked in to get my centre Exhaust replaced at an excellent price (it would of cost the same in parts), and it was apparent that the Cat needs changing as well, Managed to source a cheap brand new one, and might as well change the front pipe at the same time. Going to look at the shocks, and hopefully will get away with just replacing the rubber mounts as inside the rubber boots behind the carpet on the top there was no rust at all - looked like new!! Will still have to check underneath though.
  17. My Felicia went in for its MOT today and failed :thumbdwn:, just need a bit of advice before proceeding. Thanks 1, Centre Front Exhaust has part of the system excessively deteriorated - Does Centre Front mean Middle section needs replacing from the Cat to Rear? 2, Exhaust emissions Lambda reading after 2nd fast idle outside specified limits - The tester said this would be sorted by fixing the above, so not concerned. 3, Nearside Rear Macpherson Strut has excessive movement at the upper attachment - Do I need to replace the shock absorber, or is it just the mounting kit that needs renewing? Advisories were: Rear Macpherson Strut has slight movement at the upper attachment Cant see Brake Pads Brake pipes covered in Grease
  18. Just changed an Oil Pressure Switch on my 1.4MPI, and yes it is to the right of the Oil Filter, just to the left of the battery. I had the Oil Warning Light/Beeps on 2000+ Revs. All fine now!! (it was £11.35 inc VAT from my local dealer)
  19. Hi, Just changed the battery on both Fabia Remote Central Locking remotes for my Dad's Fabia Comfort and have tried to resync them to the car but have been unsuccessful. They are the official Two Button Skoda Fabia/Octavia Remote Central Locking Kit ones - ie not standard fit. I have followed the guide in the Kit Manual, and everything appears to go as described but it does not operate the locks. It says to: -Insert the Key in the ignition - position "0" -Press both of the buttons on the remote control simultaneously (for about 12 seconds) - the blinking LED diode will go out - Release the buttons - the LED will shine permanently - Turn the key in the ignition to position "1" - Press any of the remote control buttons (three times in a row for at least 1 second) - the blinkers will flash shortly five times - this means that the control unit has carried out the resynchronisation - Turn the key in the ignition back to position "0". After doing all this it just doesn't work. It worked fine until the batteries were changed. I have also tried teaching the code using the manual's guide but again it does not operate. Any ideas? Thanks
  20. I had the same problem, I fitted an Aldi CD/MP3 Radio using the existing wiring loom and it worked fine for about a week, before over a weekend the battery drained by itself. I wonder if it is the lack of a switched live connection on the ISO loom - it appears to be joined together with the normal 12v live wire. For now I have put the old original Radio back in, but would be interested to know how I can install the new radio without the battery draining again.
  21. Doesn't take too long - I've done this twice on two cars (both times the thermostat has broken up inside) and it is quite straightforward. Firstly, take off the Expansion tank Cap, then drain the Coolant by removing the top hose from the Thermostat Housing. you can also undo the bottom hose or take out the Fan Switch from the Radiator. Then undo and remove the return hose (to the tank) on the right of the housing, unclip any wiring etc.. Remove the three bolts from the housing which will then release it. Give it a good flush with a hose, then put the new housing in place making sue you put the rubber seal in the groove and then just put back everything you took off and refill with G12+ at the correct 50/50 mix. Then start the car, let it idle until normal temp with the Tank Cap off to expel any air that will have entered the system. Check for any leaks etc.. and thats it. Hope this helps
  22. It's most likely the spring loaded bit at the back of the lock which is held on by a circlip that engages the lever. It has almost certainly snapped in half.
  23. Push the RH Wiper stalk away from you towards the dash, if you push it a bit further it also operates the rear washer.
