  1. cheers mate things are never easy!!
  2. i have a 2001 octy rs and will be having poly bushes fitted but have hit a problem. larkspeed, the supplier, needed to know what size the anti-roll bar was (21 or 23) and if the front drop link anti-roll bar had bushes or ball joints. simple i thought ring a skoda dealer:thumbup: one said roll bar was 23mm and drop link was on bushes but didnt sound convincing so i rang another and he said the anti-roll bar was 19mm and the drop link was ball joints:confused: does anyone know more than skoda dealers?
  3. the map was generic which in hindsight was maybe a bad decision. the problems are that it has a very noticable hiccup or dip in power at about 2 and a half to 3 thou and a slight flat spot at about 3 and a half to 4 it can also be erratic at idle after a fast run. i live in pocklington so any help would be really appreciated:thumbup:
  4. a refund is out of the question as the warranty expired when i was out of the country:mad: the company was chipped uk at birmingham so it might be a case of bite the bullit and see if another firm can sort it, i appreciate Jabba is recommended but are there any firms nearer my area which is york ? it really did my tree in travelling to birmingham twice after the map and wasting time:thumbdwn:
  5. had a re-map last year and was impressed with the power increase but the smoothness of the octy was far from satisfying. the re-mapping company advised it was a failing dump valve so i replaced it to no effect they then said it was the ecu still logging the fault so they "cleared" it still with no improvement.on seeking advice from other mapping places and "experts" i have been told many reasons including, bad map and faulty air mass meter amongst other things, i am currently pulling my hair out:confused: as to which direction to go as a return to the mapping company is out cos i really dont rate them so if anyone has any advice or tech knowledge it would be much appreciated to save my sanity and not throw money to the wind
  6. thanks peeps some good advice from all:thumbup:now erring towards some plain old supa bright bulbs and if anyone has advice on these it would be muchos appreciated:thumbup:
  7. help please anybody:( after a really good re-map 212bhp, a stainless zorst and k+n panel filter:D:D giving tons of smiles per gallon in the 2001 octy i thought i might treat meself to a hid xenon conversion kit seeing as it is now officially dark all day, i trawled the net doing me homework due to being a lot of a novice then a mate mentioned the legalities of kits. i have been told i need an H4 bi-xenon 6000k kit but after reading threads today i am even more confused:confused: some say"ace" some say"poo" some say "illegal" does anyone have experience or a definitive answer cos if i dont spend the money soon the missus will take the money and spend it on make up and things!
  8. its been a while but ive been busy, just had a cat back stainless from camerons of york and a re-map from chipped uk fitted to my 2001 octy and its bloomin ace, the torque increase is so noticeable only trouble is the dump valve is failing and the dyno reading is now 212 bhp from 225. has anyone any experience of fitting dump valves?? apart from this the motor is always putting a huge smile on me chops:D the fuel econ is fine too, on a trip to chipped uk in bromsgrove from york and back it returned 37 mpg but i have also had a 29 mpg but what is more important mpg or smiles pg ? drive like a saint and it will return more than normal . would welcome advice on the dump valve fitting anyone
  9. cant answer any of your tech questions mate but i have been looking for zorsts for my rs hatch and people iknow who know have warned away from blueflame as the build quality is poor i.e the guts and hangers will rust sharpish thats why they are cheap, the general consensus for quality seems to be milltek but expect to pay 100 quid more. i am having a custom one fitted on wednesday by a place in york, stainless with a good choice of tailpipes prices range from 300 to 375
  10. cheers guys like the look of the jetex but will take a look at the others will return for further advice on suspension and re-maps if i can find a buyer for my second child!!
  11. New to this site, people. Can anyone recommend a decent Cat back system for my 2001 VRS Octy. Want a burble rather than a wasp !
  12. Thanks for the welcome guy's and gals, sorry for shouting Amanda, forum virgin you see !
  13. eh up any ideas for a decent cat back stainless system for my 2001 octy vrs want it to sound nice and not like the dozen corsa 1.4's that go howling round my town til stipid o'clock ! cheers:confused:
  14. morning folks, this is my first time on the forum so bare with me! i have a 2001 red octavia vrs which has given me hours of fun for the last 2 and a half years:) my exhaust is about to drop off and i fancy a stainless system from the cat back, if any one has good sound advice about this it would be appreciated, a nice growl rather than a howling 1.4 corsa note would be preferable!!
