  1. I think ? dampers were changed (read softened) more sound deadening in the roof liner they added rear wheel spacers
  2. for people who wants to know more of the NVH stuff: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-3rd-gen-2001-2006/947764-diy-ls430-dynamic-dampers-install-to-reduce-suspension-steering-vibrations.html
  3. i have the booming issue on my skoda octavia facelift mk3 , 1.5 tsi. It irritates me. My wife doesn't hear it (or doesn't care) I've even driven the exact same car in a test center, it also had the boom.
  4. i got a 1.5TSI DSG with a GPF, made in December 2018
  5. Agreed, it is damage from the seat belt. i've also had this on my previous car. The misses sits too far up front, so the seatbelt rubs against the chair. To avoid this damage it' best to buy a seat belt protector.
  6. same thing here. With it cracked open, even less than one inch, no booming, noises, waves, whatever.
  7. i'm very interested in the economy of the ford mk5 mondeo. I have the same issue as you. Booming noises. horrible ACT noise. i've redid: the trunk alignment added bmw dampers on the back torsion beam. added rubber on the inner doors and trunk. bought a odbeleven, so i can now close the trunk from inside the car and some other tweaks tweaked the dsg so it won't low on the rpm. (now it stays around 2000 rpm) tuned out the ACT winter tyres with new Rims (which now the vibrations are gone while driving) which made it somewhat OK. now i want to tackle down the steering wheel vibrations when the car is just idling.
  8. i've tuned my 1.5 ACT. the ACT is now "deactivated" of the engine, after 2 tanks, the consumption stayed the same for mixed consumption: i'm at 6.2L (mixed). At Town only with short distances (<5km) i consume around 7L (which is properly more as it used to be) The DSG is now also tuned, it won't go as low as it used to be, the dsg now keeps around 2000RPM instead of 1400RPM. And it won't go to the red zone when i press the pedal to hard. I also won't switch 2 gears back when i ask for 'some' power on the highway I don't regret tuning it off. The vibrations and sounds it makes is really awful. Compare it with an open window effect. And yes i went to 3 dealers, they all say it's normal, bla bla bla. I went to a test center to drive the same care, it wasn't AS awful as mine. when i reported this to the dealer they said "they all do that, we don't care".
  9. when you say 'ride is massively improved'. What does this mean? Are you having: 1. Less vibrations under your seat 2. Less vibrations on the steering wheel 3. Less sound coming trough the cabin? 4. Corners betters 5. Deals with potholes/speed bumps better? 6. Can take a corner faster on the highway? 7. ... ?
  10. my 1.5 skoda octavia dsg does 6.2L/100KM. (mixed, on E10)
  11. i agree with this review. I would opt for the ford mondeo. octavia is a noisy car and it vibrates more than my 2012 hyundai i30 on the motorway.
  12. Did the test: Numbers are now 0,5 liter after a 20 min drive (incl highway) when turning it off and on when driving 70Km/h. did not know these numbers difference so much within a such a short timespan.
  13. outside temp is 24, inside is set at 21. Car is always kept in a garage. Test was done after 10 minutes of driving. I forgot to add my question in my post: Is it normal just that engine consumes so much when the airco is on?
  14. I've noticed that when i turn my airco on, it uses about 2L of fuel according to the maxidot. At 50Km/h with the arico on it uses around 5L/100km and off it uses 3L/100km This is tested this using the cruise control and turning it on/off multiple times. When i googled what it should be using: it would be anything between 5% to 15% depending how fast you drive. (5% would at the highway, while 15% would be at 30km/h).
  15. i prefer a manual over auto, the auto doesn't know about junctions and traffic. it goes to low in rpm or to high. On the other hand if i'm in busy traffic i do prefer the auto.
