  1. Im looking at buying a cat c octavia and repairing it, its a 51 plate just wondered a rough idea on the value once its repaired, not because i want to buy it and sell it but just to get an idea what a decent price to buy it for while its damaged and not be paying over the odds as obviously it will be worth less than one thats never been damaged. Cheers Andy
  2. Yeah i suppose so i hadnt thought of that, would give me enough time to log on for fault codes with vagcom too
  3. Cheers guys, im very tempted by it as its so cheap and i miss my old one loads
  4. A salvage yard has a vrs up not far from me, ive only seen it on the net so far, but by the looks and description it needs bumper, bonnet, headlights front panal and Radiator. Are the front panels welded or bolted in the octavia i cant remember from my previous vrs, anything else to look out for? Only thing im not to sure of is the fact it wont be able to be started to see what the engine sounds like as the radiator is no goodAny help is much appreciated Cheers Andy
  5. My mistake i was just going a little further into the skoda WRC relm. Didnt Realise it would cause such an uproar
  6. Colin Mcrae also came very close to an excellent finish with the fabia in Australia but had mechanical problems. The last few results of that season influenced the decsion whether to stay in WRC or not. Great shame would have been great to see Colin in a full time seat there!
  7. That shouldnt be down to a remap, my dads octavia vrs was remapped by jabba at about 6k and he part ex'd it was over 50k miles on the origional clutch.
  8. Thats an interesting point, i'd assume ford dont bother because its a completely different Market to them so there is no point. Although you'd think they would do it over principles if nothing else
  9. Funnily enough that announcment has been made not long after Ecclestone responded to the Ferrari presidents attack of singapore... As for overtaking Monaco doesnt have much of that either but its great to watch IMO. I know Valencia was a shock for the people that made it as they were intending it to be an overtaking track, however i think it is alot down to the cars not being able to because of aerodynamics, certainly the Mclaren struggles to overtake cars because it cant get close enough. The only tracks there is lots of overtaking on have very long straights. Hopefully the new aero regulations may make things a little better next season.
  10. When i sold my last vrs on the autotrader after i put the details in it still listed it as an RS, so when you search on there or some insurance companies like bell/admiral there not all on at vrs, but there all the same thing really.
  11. Ive heard good things about the blueflame, and i like the fact it looks quite OEM but im sure i read somewhere people thought it was loud. Did it feel anymore responsive etc?
  12. Oh yeah that reminds me that it cant be particularly loud as its going to be the family car aswell, i dont mind something that exagerates the sound of the engine but nothing thats really intrusive
  13. Hey everyone im hopefully going to be getting my 2nd octavia vrs Mk1 in the not so distant future. I had a P-torque remap on my last one with no other mods, but we all want more dont we. Im wondering whether its worth an exhaust/sports cat aswell as the remap am i going to feel the difference or is it just gonna be a few more horses that its not really gonna make a difference. Thanks Andy
  14. Well it gets to a point where the car is kind of to warm inside, and my dad thought the same and he himself drives an octavia vrs and doesnt have this problem??
  15. Dont know if anyone can help, when i bought my vrs the climate control wasnt giving out cold air once the whether went warmer. So i went and got it regassed, and they tested it and everything was fine was getting nice and cold but now when i drive it, it gets cold to start with its obvious the aircon is kicking in but after a few minutes it seems to start blowing in warmish air, (obviously the temperature of the air outside). Anyone got ideas what it could be i cant see any leaks at all.
  16. Had my octavia vrs remapped at P-torque www.p-torque.co.uk in wombourne, wolverhampton yesterday and well the difference is amazing. The guy there is a very friendly chap, and very helpfull also appears to know what he is doing. I wasnt sure of taking my vrs to a less well know place, but i stubbled across this site, and found some reviews on the seat cupra forum, which also includes a rr ad evidence from a guy thats his done there, so i thought i would give it a try been as it was closer to me aswell. As for the power its an amazing difference, big grin factor and i will be going back when the rolling road is set out so i can see what its putting out. He also came out in the car with me after to make sure i was happy with how it drove. Cheers Andy
  17. Any trouble with them legality wise??
  18. Just wondered if anyone had put any German style number plates on there octy vrs's and how they looked?? Cheers Andy
  19. Would it matter if the car was remapped first and then the intake pipe added at some point after??
  20. Front suspension isnt nessacery, it depends on what you want for comfort, is your route just on roads? if so then you wont really need it, and as said a hybrid would probably be better.
  21. Most bikes that havent got disc brakes have V-brakes now, same kind of idea as the old ones but grab the wheel abit better really. There plenty good enough for me. Bikes 2U Direct -- Kids bikes, Mountain bikes, BMX bikes, Road bikes & Hybrid bikes at unbelievable prices! Have a look at this site, i would say you would still get better value than in halfords as everything halfords have seems to be about looks, rather than function
  22. It took me about 40mins, and my route takes me uphill towards halfway point then mostly back down. When im fit i think it will take me about 30mins max. In terms of bikes, personally having recently looked at ones from halfords i wouldnt buy one from there. Reason for this is that they seem to have disc brakes on all of them, there is not really need to disc brakes on a normal everyday bike and money spent on parts like this means less money spent on frame, and other components such as gears etc which means they wont be as good. The bike you linked is a downhill bike, it is likely to be very heavy and there isnt really need for full suspension IMO, i think front suspension on a mountain bike that is mainly for commuting or rough terrain will be fine, TBH i think the bike is more about looks and i dont think it is the best you can get for your money for what you want. And i think a fairly light bike is better for what you want Take a look at this site Hardtail Mountain Bikes | Cycle | Wiggle - The UK's #1 Online Bike & Cycle Shop Also has clothing and stuff.
  23. I just rode the 7 mile trip to work this morning for the first time, boy was i knackard but i dont think it helped getting up 20mins before i left. In hindsight i should have done a few small rides first, but i think if you pace yourself and give yourself time you should be ok, but like you i used to do lots of cycling. In terms of clothing i havent got fully kitted out yet, i bought i micro fibre long sleeved jersey, and a waterproof lightweight jacket. Need to get some waterproof trousers though. In terms of bikes, if you want a mountain bike you could get a decent one for about £300 which would be well made to. I bought my specialized rockhopper a few years ago for that price. Although saddle wise, im abit sore now but i think i need to get used to it again.
  24. I think really that its abit more understeery. ( If thats a word) So the Rear ARB will help reduce understeer then. Also, if i was to change just the front struts would that **** up my handling without changing the backs? Just wondering as its mainly the front that can fell a little under-damped
