  1. Was visiting the dealer in the morning to fix the keyless antenna sticking out in the trunk (it came like this and remote doesn't work from more than a meter to close the trunk). Asked if there is a software update for me and it turns out there is. Unfortunately I didn't read a forum before so I believe it was 24EU with software update which was ordered for my car on Sep 29 and I believe it is adviced to be installed when I visit the dealer, without any mail notice. Recall page gives nothing for my VIN. Registered in Sweden. 1.5 TSI DSG produced around 16th of April 2019, I only had little jerky effect on cold/on start, but as car lives in garage it was hardly noticeable.
  2. Been exposed to the same risks or even worse risks by BMW in Sweden. Swedish media was quite ignorant to my messages (I have crazy story to share with them with 4+ months in repairs, after recall BMW returned me a car with disconnected exhaust pipe under the bonnet, and I had power loss during overtaking due to another EGR defect). Btw my 1.5 TSI DSG is quite good, a little bit jerky in the first 30 seconds and then all quite okay (as good as dual clutch robot could be). 2500km on odometer.
  3. Mine produced in mid April 2019 doesn't have this issue. Mirror returns back to normal after driving in D. I think it's about 15km/h, not miles. Would be nice to merge with this topic:
  4. Does anyone know how much traffic the real traffic alerts and other car systems consume? I know it's very relative, so with the context of megabytes / miles / month. This overall thing and only 1 USB port is quite annoying with this car, in BMW it was coming with the connectivity plan, which was free under first 3 years. With Skoda you need to pay after first year and traffic information is not included anyway.

    Tyres

When was the car built? Mine was built on April 18th and came with Tritons. I actually wanted 18" but was recommended to not change the order when the car was set for production. I think I have the same tires, I always had bridgestone tires, with my first car and on my previous car both winter & summer and both were runflat. I don't think runflat would feel nice on Karoq.
  6. Well, you always road-test something these days. The frequency and negative side effects of such tests are defined by the process manufacturer uses to design a product. Longer and detailed planning = usually higher chances for smooth and predictable experience for you, but never a warranty against unexpected surprises. This is why all Toyotas until recently were quite dull and like from the 90s, thorough process of defining requirements and test cases made cars technology look dated when they were finally released. And some people would never buy Toyota because of that. VAG group recently went for other approach with many but not all processes, with more up to date offer but higher chances to fail. You get modern infotainment systems, fancy engine technologies and better economy but more problems will be discovered by the end users and not during initial planning by engineers (hi DSG!). Especially it's harder with fast changing and unpredictable "eco-friendly" requirements (for ecology better make cars more reliable and upgradable, production costs for ecology are very high, nobody cares about selling less, that would break the world's economy so they keep taking contradictory with common sense laws). Also remember that engineers with poor modern education try to get out maximum from the 100 years old tech, it's hard And having all of that loop in the factor of why VW exists - it's a profit. Less CO2 in docs, more sales = profit. And fixing their own faults has nothing to do with the profit. Until it becomes expensive to not fix (hi, BMW with EGR fire cases). When South Korea banned BMWs they decided to fix well-known issue with EGR because reputation losses became expensive (see, another eco-friendly tech causing trouble, btw which negatively affects engine's resource), but with my falling apart 2016 BMW I had not only that issue, but also another one with EGR's ECU, which gets damaged by the heat, this leads to kangarooing and sudden loss of power (happened to be during overtaking in residential area), but despite problem being common no recall was made, that's not bringing profit.
  7. My car was produced few weeks ago and probably it would still come with the old software. But you can see that they don't roll out update to everyone because they are on the stage of collecting user feedback now. It looks like there is no obvious and very easy fix, so it's understandable that you shouldn't install it to all new cars without collecting feedback, otherwise you will have plenty of customers with kangaroo problem but also all cars produced from April 2019 onwards will have something else

I'm wondering why didn't you pick the package for 1500 EUR which includes tinted rear windows (±300 EUR saving for Sunset for you), but also partially-leather interior, canton 10 speaker audio, spare wheel and autonomous heater with the remote? Not hugely important selection but for 5% price increase you get much better resale value IMHO :) When it comes to navigation + digital dash + electric memory driver seat package for ±1500 EUR I wouldn't say it is as good choice, especially after trying Android Auto in VW Golf, but I don't think I will regret. You probably read my updates on this, I also heard about 5-6 months, was buying car from the Norrköping dealer's order 1.5 months before delivery, and dealer was able to tell me pretty much exact production date (exact date around 1 month prior, before approx date) and when it comes to Sweden. So far it was super accurate and the car is in Norrköping with Swedish registration number (and new ugly/cool number plates), but their staff got sick so delivery is delayed until next week for me :) Which color did you pick btw?

I know it's not the most relevant for most of the people here, but something to compare. Swedish delivery times: Car manufactured: 18 April 2019. Pre-registered in Sweden: 26 April 2019. Delivery to the dealer from the port (~120km, to central Sweden): 5 May 2019. Pickup date: 11 May 2019. Ordered seems to be in November 2018, buying car from dealer's own order. 1.5 TSI 2x4 DSG Style.
  10. Don't know how they handle it on a Golf, but I used to have 1.6 diesel manual Citroen DS3 from 2013 and it was turning off the engine while in neutral at speed around 15 and keeping it off up to 30km/h! The car was braking and steering fine, but if you used the brakes a few times the engine would start, it was monitoring the pressure in the braking system going low. After the Citroen I had 2015 Audi A3 2.0TDI manual quattro and that one was not as smart unfortunately, turning off the engine only after complete stop, made me write a blog post about French diesels being better than German back in the days
  11. It's going to look exactly like on Kamiq, which I think is quite nice. My car got manufactured last week and I wish they applied some MY20 changes to it already I'll check but very unlikely, maybe some software only. Speaking about the key with retransmission protection. Never heard of this idea and I think it's very smart. It doesn't solve the supermarket-time robbery issue, which I've seen people in Russia solved many years ago with Toyota/Lexus by adjusting the time requirements for the key signal: if the key is too far it takes more time for the signal to reach the receiver, but cars with keyless have very long timeouts, so you can retransmit pretty much for kilometers away. By setting very short timeout it won't work if the signal is more than 5 meters away, despite being retransmitted, but I believe the other side here that potentially in a signal-noisy environment keyless may not work if timeout is too short. I believe it should be possible for the current owners to order updated keys for their cars. From other topics I can see that the price for a new key is about 150 EUR.
  12. As you can see by the comments, most likely you won't face this issue. There are enough people running such car without any problems and they are not posting on the forums. I had really similar story to people with their Karoqs but with my BMW F31, actually my experience was much-much worse. Two weeks after purchase got robbed (multimedia, steering wheel), 4 months in repairs, no replacement car despite original BMW Insurance, very bad quality repairs, they even forgot to finish all steps in repair process, drivetrain malfunction and power loss during residential area overtaking due to EGR "brains" overheating and dying (common and very well-known issue, detected by kangarooing, BMW takes the risk to kill some of us), steering wheel heating stopped working, recall on EGR with other official service (risk of fire), in which they forgot to plug in EGR pipe back and car was leaking fumes into the cabin (found it quickly by the smell, imagine if it was older lady driving this, she would die), rear differential oil leak on 40000km, and when I sold it on 45000km 3 years old in perfect condition they found diesel filter error in car memory and charged me for it... I drive like an old person just FYI. BMW Sweden was terrible, when I read what Skoda is doing in UK I never got such attention here. Other people had much better luck with BMW as you can imagine, hopefully the same applies to our Skoda ownership
  13. Wait a second, so before MY20 there was no coasting function in Eco mode with DSG? I was quite confident that there is one (don't have this car myself yet though).
  14. Glad to hear that on Karoq this system works more or less good. I had quite negative experience with 2016 Volvo V60, it was not working when it should work, and working when it shouldn't - constantly dazzling oncoming traffic. Conditions were very simple - winter landscapes of Northern Sweden, where there are not that many people living, but anyways every light source was shutting the high beam down (except for some oncoming cars lol). I didn't find a way to forever turn it off in Volvo (but it was just a rental car for a week when my BMW was waiting for new window, steering wheel and navigation), so I was not really sure if it's reasonable to spec Auto High Beam for Karoq.
  15. Yeah that's my hope for Skoda, my previous 2016 BMW 320d spent 4 month in repairs after having steering wheel and media module stolen. Insurance company paid 20k EUR for repairs thanks to BMW's 700% margins on some components. I was one of the ~50 BMW owners affected within one week in Stockholm. Keyless system retransmission is often a way to open the car and take valuable options, in my case they just smashed the window though. On the other hand, I know similar stories for VW Golf 7, they take steering wheel, digital dials, airbag and headlights here in Sweden. Is there a risk for digital dials of Karoq to get stolen too then? In other threads here people discuss retrofitting some cool options, which is a growing market opportunity for thieves...

Ordered 1.5 TSI DSG Style in Sweden. Digital dials, 8" screen, navigation, partially-leather seats with memory, towbar, webasto. It was a car which was on the way to the dealer, ordered earlier by them for their stock. From the spec it has a special campaign applied which was valid for the cars ordered before 30 Nov 2018. So something around that date I believe was the order placed date. It was promised to arrive by the end of April, and salesperson contacting me to discuss details in the mid of April. Currently, 4 month is approx. delivery time for Sweden I've been told.
  17. Accidentally found this thread and decided to sign up. I don't own Karoq (yet) but had a chance to test drive one in Sweden last weekend. 1.5TSI with manual gearbox. Thought I completely forgot how to use manual (too much kangarooing, but only on 1st), but also there was a very strange silence and unresponsiveness from the engine on the roundabout on the second gear, so I had to quickly change to the 1st. That's definitely not normal even for a smaller petrol engine, I owned Peugeot 208 1.2 3cylinder 82hp as a first car and carry manual habits from that time. Is this something to do with 2 cylinders shutdown? Or it's just the amount of fuel being injected? Also wondering if on neutral the engine revs better at such speed.
