  1. I was wondering if anyone had a wiring diagram for a pair of front leather electric seats, passenger side is just heated. I was just going to wire them in for the electric driver seat but was considering seeing if I could wire the heated seats up as well, is this possible without using the canbus? I've searched but can't find a decent wiring diagram for the seats. Any help would be appreciated.
  2. Can't remember the size of my discs but I have a 2006 1.9 tdi estate and I can take the discs off without removing the carriers, and thank god I can, what a **** they can be to remove!
  3. I had this fault last year, temp gauge would never reach 90 even after a long run, it would go up a little sitting in traffic but as soon as you were moving it would drop down to about 45 and stay there. I assumed it was because of the colder weather as a lot of threads described that being common but this was not the case. I changed the coolant temp sensor and the thermostat, both at the same time so I'm not sure exactly which solved it but for the price of the parts it was worth changing both. As langers2k said, I wouldn't have thought the thermostat would have been replaced with the timing belt unless you specifically asked for it to be done.
  4. They might last as long as a new belt but I don't see why you would go through the effort of changing the belt but not the tensioner and pulley? They're all going to have wear to some degree and for peace of mind it's worth changing them. You're already questioning whether or not you should have done them and you're going to think about it every time you drive, I would say it's worth doing. Adverse effect would be a destroyed engine!
  5. I was wondering if anyone can confirm if these are the correct part numbers for my car (1.9 tdi pd 105 bkc) Coolant temp sensor 06A919501A Thermostat 068121113H Thanks
  6. Mk2 octavia is the same as Mk5 golf mechanically,i believe the jetta is the same platform but as micmac said there could be differences with a US spec model. I've removed the hub bolts a few times and they are definitely 27mm if they are a regular 6 sided bolt head, some are 12 point head but I can't remember the size of those, I'm sure someone here will know.
  7. In a nut shell that's it, just remember not to over tighten the drain plug when you refit it
  8. The sensor screws into the top of the gearbox, when you remove it there is a threaded hole which you can use to add the oil
  9. It's pretty easy, just done it myself recently. From the research I did you need to fill it through the reverse light sensor hole as the gearbox is mounted at an angle where you can't get the correct amount of oil in the proper fill hole, I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong but this is what I found from researching the job. You need to get the car jacked up and the undertray off. The drain on the bottom of the gearbox is a 17mm allen key. Wear gloves as the old oil stinks! You need to remove the air box to access the reverse light switch. If you are resetting the linkages I would remove the battery and tray aswell to give yourself enough room to work in. Remove the connector from the reverse sensor then use a deep 22mm socket to remove it. Replace the drain plug once completely emptied. Add your oil, 1.9 litres was the amount I was told to put in, using a funnel and small enough pipe. Put everything back together and job done, doesn't take too long, the longest part is draining and refilling the oil. The oil spec I found for that gearbox is 75w gl4.
  10. I would say cv joint, I've had that on my car, it would click on tight turns at low speed, I replaced mine recently and it sorted it out. It's not a difficult job either, just messy!
  11. That's handy to know, thanks. You'd think running the pipe at high level (especially with crappy joints!) was utter lunacy! Does anyone know where I can find or have a copy of a drawing that has the position of all of the joints? I've looked but can't find anything online. I know to look for Mk5 golf stuff for the mechanical side, do they run stuff through the interior in the same locations?
  12. Is this the only joint inside the car? I've been having similar issues. I found that joint and fixed it but it still takes a while from activating the pump to water coming out of the rear wiper outlet. Is there any sort of non return valve in the line or can the water siphon itself back into the tank?
  13. So I should have kept reading! So with my car being a 2006 I should be OK with it on? Thanks for putting me right wino
  14. Hi all, sorry if there are any posts about this already but I couldn't find them. Regarding the new mot rules, the egr has been blanked off in my car (before I got it, I probably would have done it anyway) and it has an eml on, I know this is the only fault causing it as I have had a scan done. I've read lots of conflicting info saying that the new rules about this don't apply to pre 2008 diesels. Is there anyone who can clarify or point me in the right direction for info? I have looked on the gov website, does it mean diesel where it says gas or bi-fuel? Forgive my ignorance! Any help would be greatly appreciated, I would prefer not to spend any money getting it mapped out if possible!
