  1. Hi, battery is AGM stop start,i am changing the Ah from 068 to 070 rest is like for like ..While i have VCDS and having just paid £130 for the battery just wanted to make sure i did the correct thing..I know Bosch and Varta are basicaly the same vendor and most don't actualy come with a serial number so a change of digit in the original serial number will tell the ecu that a new battery is in place ..What happened to the days of just replacing a ageing battery 15 mins of a job..
  2. Hi, i am about to fit a new battery ,i have gone for a Varta AGM as like for like apart from Ah and vender ..Current battery is Ah68 new is Ah70 currentbattery vendor is JCB and new one is VAO ..What i would like help with is is it the letter O or is it a zero,i ask because i have seen somewere that it may be a zero ..Can anyome help. Thanks
  3. £800 Injectors VAG cable 3 vin £210 Software rollbacked £150 clamp bolts £20 piece of mind 0.00
  4. That fine if they fail under 2 years ,EGR was replaced after just 4k still ran like a bag of spanners, I could smell diesel in my oil and all injectors were running at either -3 or +3 dealer not interested as it was not showing a fault, biggest con going the so called emission fix ruined my car ..
  5. Had simalar issues with the 1,6tdi cayc and injectors after the so called EA189 fix ended up getting the cars software rollbacked to pre fix and fitted 4 new injectors . I purchased VDO Continental injectors at an average price new and sealed of £180 each from Ebay sellers ,although i did have to sit and wait and purchase one by one when the came up i then purchased the genuine vag cable in order to code them also purchased new clamp bolts and fitted them took less than a hour from start to finish .longest job was me being very careful i got the correct torque when fitting ther clamp bolt ..Once coded the cable come in handy again to prime the tail lift pump for priming the fuel pump ready for firing up..After that i did change oil and all the filters as i was getting more oil out than i was putting in possibly diesel contamination ,anyway all that as now stopped and car is idling better, getting better MPG and when i now drop the oil i get out what i put in 4,3 litres ..If you have had the so called fix i would say in my opinion dont spend a penny on the car until you get the car rollbacked to its factory setting ie pre 9978 ..or you just end up still having EGR issues as well ..Just my opinion based on my own personal experience eith this engine
  6. Hi i have the 1.6tdi cayc engine and the car had the so called software fix but i have had that rollbacked ,however i am aware that that the OEM EGR on these cars can fail early with or without the fix.. What i am looking at is the choice of what EGR because if the OEM are not fit for purpose and they are the most expensive to purchase what would you go for with a aftermarket one as they can range from £70 -£300 .. Any advise from anyone who as used a aftermarket one or been recomended one would be apreciated,as said normaly i would go for OEM but it seems in this case thay are not realy that good..Thanks
  7. Cant seem to find the edit but it's obviously a typo and should read 780...
  8. Hi i had a skoda fabia 1.6tdi non ea189 fix that i have since passed on to my daughter ,i have sinced purchased a A3 1.6tdi cab (had fix but since rollbacked )same year as the fabia 2010 . I noticed once the Fabia was up to 90c idle speed was 800rpm but the A3 once up to temp at 90c is at 7800 and feels smooth enough ...I was wondering if anyone could shed any light on whethere 7800rpm on the a3 is strange as the Fabia sits 800rpm ,any input on this would be apreciated ..Would like to add that i am going to purchase a Hex Can soon ..
  9. No , it just says that my engine is one affected so I presume it as not been done
  10. I believe quite a few people have had issues regarding the software update with some wishing they never had it done..
  11. Update : Decided to go for a motorway run and got just a few miles down the road and the DPF light disapeared ,i still proceeded to do a 45min on motorway possibly the first time in months
  12. Hi I am getting just the DPF symbol at the moment ,car is running fine ..I don't know the full history of the car over the last few months but It appears according to tax records that it as not been on the road since Dec 18 and at 55k surely the dpf should be fine..I am going to see if I can get on a motorway in the next few hours to give it a run ..I have had EGR issues in the past and I can normally take those out myself and decoke if they are easy to get to. Looking at previous owners mileage and with it being stood I am hoping a good run is what it needs but as I don't really want to be hoping it does as said just purchased...
  13. Hi I have a 2012 Fabia 1.6tdi CR Elegance with 55k on the clock. I did a straight swap with a dealer for my old car just a couple of days ago . Since then I have just done aprox 50 miles on mainly short journeys of 6/8 miles ,now I know diesels like a good run as I still have a BMW 120d however I am aware that you need to do some kind of regen when the light comes on but at the moment I don't have time to spend a couple of hours on the motorway ,I will however on Friday as I was planning a good 500 mile round trip down south ..My dilemma is this was this the reason previous owner got rid and just take it back and say I am not happy (confident) in the car if so how does that work as no cash past hands. Or do I gamble and see what it's like after weekend run but as anything else seeing lights on the dash just wind me up .. I suppose worst case would be new DPF fitted under warranty if that allows ..Any help tips help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks
