  1. This seems to be the defacto "fit a dashcam to a Skoda" thread so - asking here. I have a 2016 Rapid Spaceback and I'm about to embark on fitting a Viofo dual cam. I've got curtain airbags along the sides - should I avoid running the cable along the trim and try and run it under the floor somehow?
  2. Because I'm a good citizen of the internet, I thought it'd be good to post my solution to this. I eventually gave up finding the correct fitting - the reality was that I did find it, but only in bags of 100. In the end, I used hot glue to secure it for a while - a few generous blobs either end and plenty around the old fixings. It held for a while until the weather got cold, and then the glue fractured as the temperature dropped. I've replaced it with some proper number plate adhesive strips from Halfords (bleurgh) because it had got to the point where it was just falling off and needed fixing. It's now very secure, and I'd advise anyone else to just not faff around and go straight to the adhesive pads. You do need the thicker ones because of the curve in the numberplate - Of the included 3, I used one at each end and one horizontally at the lower edge, because there's that weird indent behind the number plate.
  3. Sorry to awaken a very old topic! Having now been witness to two serious crashes in the last twelve months, I've bought a dashcam (A Viofo A129 dual cam) for my Rapid Spaceback and I'll be installing it soon. The guides and information here has been really valuable, however...I've got questions. I've not yet poked around too much, but I gather that the fuse box is under the steering wheel? So I'll be taking the cables up the driver side A pillar and across. I don't care for the parking mode (I live on a fairly busy road, it'll be activating all the time) so I guess fuse 26, rear window wiper would be a good switched option. I think I have side airbags, which seem to deploy from the trim beneath the glass panoramic roof. Would it be a better idea to try and take the cable low, across the door sills and up from the boot? It seems like there aren't many Spaceback owners that have done this...! I guess I just have a poke around and see where I can get cable to. Viofo thoughtfully included a plastic trim removal tool in the box, so I won't be scratching anything up at least. I'm a bit wary of the rear cable routing - I've heard of people having lots of issues with DAB signal because the aerials are in the rear light quarters (or something) although top tips are take the cable down the driver side AND make sure the slack is up at the front of the vehicle and not wound around in the rear trim. Any other tips? I feel like a bit of a novice with this!
  4. I bought a 2016 Spaceback early this year - the front passenger side squeaks and sounds like bed springs when going over some speed bumps when it's cold out. The main dealer said it was normal and not to worry, local Skoda service centre said it sounded wrong and they could have a look. It sort of stopped doing it of its own now its warmer, so I haven't gotten around to checking - I figure I'll get them to check the suspension links next time it has a service, but it's otherwise OK! The intermittent odd noises are the worst - you just know full well it won't do it when you take it in. (mine also doesn't do it if you bounce it up and down by hand)
  5. Hi all, I'm new here! Sorry that my first post here is a cry for help, but this is really doing my nut (no pun intended) I bought a used Rapid Spaceback at the beginning of this year - a lovely bright green Sport trim with the 110bhp engine. I really love it! A few days ago, I shut the boot and the rear numberplate half detached - it looks like the little square mount is broken, and won't stay in. I've just spent about an hour (that's not an exaggeration) searching but I'm kind of bumping up against the fact that I'm searching for what is effectively a small plastic rivet which is quite generic. Does anyone know where to get them from?! It's a 7x7mm square plastic mounting rivet - it's got a rubber grommet to the outside of the bodywork and I believe the screw causes it to expand and stick in the square hole. There's nothing to glue it into - it goes into the empty bodywork inside the boot lid. Thanks for your help!
