  1. I would like to set the power assistance coding back to factory setting. What is that on a scale 1 to 6 which I think it is on my Skoda Fabia 2003. I have now no need for the power steering pump to work at highest setting. It is so difficult to understand the names for the different codings 1 to 6. For example light steering heavy vehicles, normal steering light vehicles etc. Can all codes 1 to 6 be used?
  2. It does have airbags. The preasure in front tyres are on 33 psi. The wheel size is 175 65. I would like to get some 165 tyres but I havent found somebody who is selling. I apreciate your answer. I agree with you that the the code should be 10160 instead of 00160.
  3. Ok. Its good to at least be able to access the program. Thanks for help.
  4. I brought the correct code 10160 to the dealer. Then he said that he would type in 00160 instead. That was the one he would use. Does this make a difference? The steering only got a little bit more assistance, in other word not much difference. I was expecting a little bit more, given that the setting is called handicaped. There are no handicaped people that would benefit from this small differerence. However, if I can manage to code it myself when I get the cheap product I ordered. Then I can try to type in 10160 instead.
  5. Thank you for the info. I will report back what the dealer say.
  6. Ok good. If anyone knows the exact code for max assistance on my car. Then it would be helpful when talking to dealer.
  7. Do you know if it is the same codes on the mk 1 Skoda Fabia? Mine is 2003. Then I could tell the dealer the correct code if they dont know.
  8. Thank you for trying to help me save money. I would like to do it myself, but I dont know where to start. I have ordered the cheap tool from the link I listed above. However, this probably wont work on windows 8. So for me to try to do it myself. I need very specific instructions of what product I need. And where I get it. I dont think I can do it without knowing this for sure. Then I will waste more money than neccesary. I have no experience of VCDS. However, I understand what you mean by the code you changed this morning. So its not difficult if you can get it to work.
  9. Ok good. Your car is not facelifted. I will report back what the dealer say next week. They will attempt to to the job but they could not guarantee that they could do it. But thanks for the info.
  10. Thank you for your info. However, my car is before facelift which came in 2004. Do you know if it is possible on 2003 models too?
  11. I dont think I will be able to do it myself with the tool I have ordered. So I will deliver my car to the local Skoda dealer to do the job next week. However, they could not guarantee that they would be able to make the steering lighter. The dealer will find this out when I deliver the car next week. They will attempt to make the steering lighter with a code. It would be very helpful if anyone could tell me on this forum for sure that the steering assistance can in fact be altered on my Skoda Fabia 1.4 2003 auto ? This is the first generation Fabia without facelift which came in 2004. If someone can confirm to me that it is possible to alter the steering assist on my generation Fabia. I would appreciate to know the model year your car is. Appreciate answers on this.
  12. Thank you for your info. Yes, I agree its best to purchase something which is not copied. It would be very helpful to know if VAG COM 409.1 software will actually work on windows 8? So I dont purchase something I cant use.
  13. Hi everyone :-) I have a Skoda Fabia 2003 1.4 estate. I have a disability which makes it hard to turn the wheel on my car. I need the steering to have more assistance. So its easier to operate the wheel. I would like to do this myself without paying for dealer to do it. It it very difficult to know what tool I need and if it will be able to change the setting on my car. I found this listing? https://www.ebay.com/itm/USB-Cable-KKL-VAG-COM-409-1-OBD2-II-OBD-Diagnostic-Scanner-VW-Audi-Seat-VCDS/292561292715?_trkparms=aid%3D888007%26algo%3DDISC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20131227121020%26meid%3Dba4b66f66a734467a328e71ba9188f05%26pid%3D100009%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26sd%3D222731644761%26itm%3D292561292715&_trksid=p2047675.c100009.m1982 It does not say anywhere in the listing that you need windows Vista or older to make it work. Does someone know what I should do?
