  1. I've got number 193. It was in a bit of a sorry state when I got it and I've spent some time fixing all the little issues and she's looking and driving great now. Completely stock and will be staying that way. She's based in Southampton and I'm hoping to keep her for a good long while. Currently on 146,000 miles.
  2. I'm now the owner of 019. It's completely standard apart from the badges and some led DRLs. It's on 103,000 miles and still in great condition.
  3. Thanks everyone. Nice to know there's other Japanese car lover's here too. Nice you've held onto the MK1 so long. Hoping to keep mine for the foreseeable future.
  4. Which car model is the steering wheel from? Do the controls work on the stereo? Thanks.
  5. I agree on price being too much. I've messaged to ask him to give pictures of the paint issues so I can get a quote and see how much less it needs to be. Thanks everyone for the input it's very helpful
  6. The CV boot is being replaced today. He said that the MOT tester said it was just starting to go hence advisory.
  7. Hello everyone. I'm Stefani. I've been driving VW's since I learnt to drive. My first car was a 1988 mk2 golf GTi in Helios blue. To date it's still my favourite car I've owned and might well end up with another. Next I had another GTi but a 1992 big bumper 16v which was great but just lacked some of the character. Third car was a MK3 8v GTi which was a very temporary solution in between cars. It was heavy and slow and ugly. Eventually though I got my first new car which has been with me till now which is a Volkswagen UP. Anyway enough history why an I here? Ive decided the up has to go (slow, uncomfortable, boring etc) and I want a replacement. I've narrowed it down to wanting a MK1. Fabia VRS SE. I've got a budget of around £3k. I'm looking forward to being part of the forum and maybe coming along to shows etc. My car will be staying stock at least a while as I have my MX-5 MK1 mazdaspeed b-spec for a fun car which gets all my spare pocket money So yeah but long winded but hopefully not to boring way of saying Hi!
  8. I should have mentioned that it's on 101k miles, has 11 months MOT, fully stamped service book with some dealer stamps and some independent. It's had cambelt done at 88k. Hope that helps give a better idea.
  9. Hi I'm new to the Skoda world having come from the vw world with MK2 Golfs and my current car being a very up. I've been keeping my eye out for a vrs special edition for a while now and finally one came up locally (I'm Southampton based). So I went and viewed the Fabia VRS SE today and I really liked it. It was listed at £3500 which I thought was slightly high but not outrageous. It drives really well and has all the service history etc. The car mechanically seems solid. The only thing that lets the car down is the paint really. Its got a fairly deep scuff on the door handle, a small scuff in the rear arch, a tiny ding on one door and a shallow scratch down the whole passenger side. The tiny ding was mentioned in the ad but the others weren't. The last one he said wasn't there till today which I believe and he has said he will get it polished out. I did try to talk him down on price given the bits that weren't in the advert but he was firm on the price of £3500 which I think is at the higher end of what these go for. The thing is he is willing to hold onto her whilst I sell my VW up which really makes things easier. I've found another one for £2850 which is same miles etc but apparently better paint condition except the spoiler has lacquer peel however they want cash straight away so it's not really an option. The other thing I noticed on the test drive was the turbo whistling, I think only when accelerating is that normal? Not sure if I should go for it? Thanks in advance for any advice.
