I apologise for another DPF issue post but I was hoping to get some advice if at all possible for my next steps.
In November of last year I started to have some problems with heating. For a couple of weeks I noticed that the car was taking longer to get cabin heat, and a few days before I took the car into a mechanic I got the DPF warning on the car.
A blockage was diagnosed and cleared. The garage was then getting consistent temperatures. The garage took the car out for a run to try to get a DPF regen - it would run for 20 seconds but ideally needed a good run. As funds were tight at that point I decided I would do that myself over the next few weeks.
All I seem to have done at that point is max out the soot mass and soot calc figures. Occasionally a good run would reduce them but it would creep back up.
Fast forward to last month, and after suffering a coolant leak, found out that my water pump had failed. Back in to get it sorted, once back I found the car suddenly able to get up to temp quickly and in 30 minutes had the "soot mass measured" down to minus figures. Whilst that measured figure was high I was able to get the temps way over 300 and the "calc" figure got as low as 35 but since then can't seem to be able to get it hotter than 300 again, probably because the car is now breathing better. Probably doesn't help that I tend to drive very efficiently normally.
I note my oil ash is 51% so in theory a fair bit of life left?
Obviously I want to fix this so I can get things back to normal so wanted to know my options. I will continue to try to get a DPF started by driving as per the manual instructions.
Funds are still very tight so I'm trying to avoid expensive mechanic visits if there's something I can do myself.
Can a DPF regen be forced at this stage? What's my best option to force this? I'm open to getting hold of VCDS if I have to. Or another app if it's capable of doing this. Is Carly any good? Or any alternatives?
I'm aware a DPF clean is possible but have been quoted upwards of £600 for this. If I can get this done without having to go via this route I'd like to explore this.
