  1. Please help me fix this problem I own a Skoda Octavia MK1 2004 Diesel Automatic 1.9cc TDI. Mileage 78000 It was driving perfectly well until one day to work stop while it was idle in a congestion. It didnt start at first but after 10 minutes started however can wouldnt change gears and had no power despite RPM going up to 3x. OBD error code P0727. - powertrain control module (PCM) has detected no input voltage signal from the engine speed sensor I deleted the error and the car drove nicely again with normal power however it did the same thing again a few times. The following times the car was going 40-50 mph when it does which is really scary specially in the motorway. I took it to halfords who said I need to get a new ECU. I bought one from ebay and took it to a local garage who cloned it for me. Installed the clone one and the car worked fine. However after the second trip it did the same thing again with similar error. I really like my car and dont want to sell it. Anyone has a fix for this?
  2. Hi Briskoda community I have a Skoda Octavia 2004 1.9c diesel 70,000 miles now. Worked like a charm. The only thing was the A/C controller board backlights were occasionally not working, after a while I got an Alarm while driving back home "Check Alternator". So I took it to halfords who recommended a free battery life check which they said the alternator was fine. Then after a few days the wipers were starting on there own! Even if I switched them off they went bazinga crazy!. This stopped after while, Now the AC is not working when switched on to 1,2 and 3 setting. Only setting working is full power 4!. Any Idea were I should be looking to fix this problem? an exorcist?
  3. @Aston_Bodger This Fixed the Problem!! Thank you!! SAVED ME 60 Pounds DIAGNOSTIC VISIT TO SKODA!! THANK YOU! All I did was unplug and plug the brake light switch and the dash board was clear again! Also the gear box shift lock works fine again! Many thanks!
  4. Thank you pikpilot, I did a quick Google and didn't realize it also can be glow plug or other different faults. I have tested the water pump which was working fine (I unplugged the return hose from the reservoir and the flow was good). Now I have an obd reader already which I did use when I was car hunting and also used now but it never picked up any codes. The car in it self is performing fine, there are no misfires or new sounds. The only thing different is the gearbox shift lock not releasing when I press on the breaks. I have tried disco necting and reconnecting the battery..didnt work. Hoping it's not serious, do I need to buy a better obd?
  5. Hi proud skoda owners, new member with mature skoda octavia 2004
  6. I have bought a used skoda octavia diesel 2004 with 64000k milage, it was absolutely fine for two weeks then had problem with gear box lock. The breaks did not seem to unlock gear box so I could move it at all unless car was turned off. This problem fixed itself the next day. Today a few days after the over heat alarm is off although the temp gauge is steady at 90 (when car is cold it starts at 50 and sticks to 90 through out the trip). The gear problem happened again at the same time as the overheat sign. The car runs fine but not sure where the fault is. Anyone gone through this before?
