hello, I had a gear selector replacement under the warranty and when they replaced the selector damaged 2 things. 1 My car parking mode didn't work anymore .. as soon as i saw this i went back and told them and they was agree to fix it in the end. 2 Second damage, wich i found after couple months.. they broke the plastick support that keeps the gear selector leather attached by car support.. sorry i don't know how to explain better... i will attach one photo. And now the support goes out when you pull.I went back to them and the guy there told me that he will speak with the service manager and he wilk call me back, so after i waited couple days and i didn't received any call.. i called myself and the same guy told me i spoke with the service manager and he is not agree to cover the cost of the repair because i have made more than 2000 miles with the car. then i called skoda customer service and they told me that they will speak with skoda retailer about this problem but if skoda retailer isn't agree to repair the car they don't have whan to do because the dealer is independet business. Can anyone please tell me what options do i have in this case? sorry for my english!

I'm glad to hear that they will do it free of charge.I think my gearbox is different than yours is the one with 7 gears maybe the pawl could be replaced or maybe is could be the cable i will see when they will diagnostic it.I still have the factory warranty up to november but i had another annoying issue with the gear selector and i had to make like 3 roads to the dealer until they were agree to repair it and i had a gear selector changed under the warranty, so because i know how they take the problem i'm a little anxious until they give me an answer. I'm glad for you that you managed to have it repaired for free! I will post here the result of the diagnostic and their answer!

Hello, I have a skoda octavia 66 plate 1.7 dsg arrouns 52.000 miles, yesterday i have noticed that when i put my car in P mode and i'm in a little down hill not very incline my car is start rolling and i hear a noise that clicking and after i read couple post here i think the pawl is the problem and from there is the noise i have a booking at skoda dealer to see what is is.Car is still drivable just the P mode don't lock the car as is used to do it.I mention that i always used the hand brake when parking.

Hello guys, short update regarding the gear selector problem.I just had mine done today under warranty and they replaced the next components: gear selector mecanism, gear selector washer for cable, gear selector cable clip at gear box end. So after i drive away from the garage couple miles i can feel that the car change the gears more smoothly and before i had a clicking noise under the car that i could hear only when i had the window open.. and i used to hear it pretty often buy now is gone and i think it had something to do with the gear selector problem... but i'm not sure.Now i will wait to see if the error is gone as it should be.

Hello, So you have any news with the issue? I had the error message again today and i went directly to the dealer for check and they found the fault error and booked me in the date of 16 for 2 hours test.And i told them what if fault dissapear until then and they said that they can't do anything else ... that is the only free space.I called skoda and they told me to wait until the date of 16 to make the test again and if nothing will show to call them and go to a big skoda dealer for some extra verification. This is what happened today regarding this error again!. So until now i had the error message 3 times and i lost one day and a half and still nothing. I will wait the date of 16 to see what happens

Glad to hear, to mine they didn't find any fault after diagnostic.. you have any ideea what to do regarding this error?

Hello all, I just did today the vcds diagnostic and didn't find any fault.I'm thinking to wait until the error pop up again and repeat the diagnostic? Or what solution you suggest? Please help P.S when i was at the dealer for the quick check in the same day when the error appeard they saw the fault!!!! So this will be the best solution? I appreciate any help or answer!!!!

Hello, Thank you for your reply!I will try do do the VCDS diagnostic asap! The dealer did a diagnostic run with their tools but they didn't find any fault second time when i went.

Hello guys, it's just happened to me to receive this message i have a skoda 66 plate 1.6 dsg and after the message apear second time i went to the skoda dealer the told me to come for a quick check if i have time in the same day.. and when they diagnosticated the car they found the gear selector fault... this was at the quick check and they made me a booking after 11 days to make again the diagnostic and order the parts (this is what they told me that day) and when i was second time the fauld didn't apear and they keep the car all day and check it but the fault didn't apeared again, and they told me if they can't see the fault they can't do anything under the warranty... so they give me the same answer like some of you here they told me to take a photo to the error when apears again.... but the message dissapears very fast in like 2 seconds.... and after this in called skoda customer service and after i told them the problem they answered me with the same thing to try to male a photo of the error message... After i read all your messages i undersrstood that i need to do a VCDS DIAGNOSTIC is correct? And the diagnostic will find the fault? Please help me with the best options regarding this problem.I still have warranty until November. Sorry for my english is not my first language! Thank you in advance!
