Placement of trunk lid, gaps?
Hello gang! Yesterday I spent a good 6 hours in the garage switching boot lids on my Fabia 2 Combi as it was cheaper than replacing the old leaky scratched up rear window (in retrospect, no so much in terms of labour). Unfortunately both the old and new lids don't line up well: the top of the lid is maybe 4 mm lower than the roof and there is about 10mm gap on the top. The lid also extends past the rear light on the right side about 3 mm - this is the biggest eyesore so far. I'm not too keen on ripping the panels off again to redo this, but I'm wondering how close is the fitment on the trunk lid? I've no other Fabia around to verify from. After a nights sleep, I started to suspect the reason for the ill fitment is on the holes on the frame for the hinge - the holes are slightly larger than the bolt, but with the old hard sealant on the frame they get "centered" onto the old spot, hence the illplacement even with changing the lid, hinges and numberous readjustments. A fix would be to scrape the surface clean, would you agree? Are there any other means of adjustment at this point?

LHD/RHD latch of projector headligh popped off, what to do?
Yes, though it's more like a plastic split pin in a hole in sheet metal, with a small lip of the pin supposed to keep it over the hole. Now that I think about it, I should probably try to wedge something into that split part to keep the pin from pulling out from the hole.

LHD/RHD latch of projector headligh popped off, what to do?
Some time ago I replaced the left-hand-side H4 bulb and while pushing the connector in, I felt a disconcerting [pop] when the lever used to change the dip setting from left-/right-hand-traffic came off. Since then the beam aim has been catty-wompus. I've tried to push the peg of the lever back in its hole, but it always plops out again. Granted I've only tried this in situ and not with the whole headlight housing in my hands. I'm wondering if anyone else has had faced this same issue and came up with a working fix.

Lurker, reporting in
Terve! Long-time lurker, first time poster on this forum. I'm an English major film buff from Finland with a bit of experience wrenching on motorcycles and tractors. I've had my 2009 1.6 Fabia Combi for a while now, bought it used sight-unseen at an auction with 215K on the clock and have since put some 35K into it. My experience from the auction and Fabia was mostly very pleasant because of my only frame of referrence having been the 2001 Fiat Stilo 1.8 I had before, which deappreciated to a point of not being worth the upkeep. In terms of use, the Fabia has seen mostly city use along with a few longer trips back home now and then. So far I've only worked out problems as they come up: cleared out about 1 kg of dog hair and spittle when I received the car, more or less fixed the wiring loom in the doors (still lose the 'door open' signal when driverside is fully open), replaced the rear window wiper motor (you bet the brass tube was corroded through!) and have replaced the transmission oil - my first experience of actually crawling under the car, can't say I enjoy having the hot engine right on top of my head. I'm not sure how long the car will go for, so I haven't put too much effort into fixing certain things like the scratched up rear window or adding a tow bar, despite needing it from time to time and actually owning a utility trailer. Hopefully I'll find some answers here.

Projector headlamps weak.
I'm curious, which LED bulbs did you go with?
