Things I didn't know about modern Octavias.... 1.) wireless key charging?
All I know is that the one key was useless at unlocking the car right next to the driver door... then it was put on the charging mat for 30 minutes.... then it worked from across the street! If there is just a CR battery in it, it's puzzling.

Right, I shouldn't jump to conclusions. Just strange that the one key was completely dead but then revived after sitting on the charging mat for half an hour.

One of the reasons I rejected the Motorpoint 71 reg Octavia iV was that one key was dead. (That and a scraping rear wiper, no tyre inflation kit, and no 3-year service info - plus my selfish reasons that it turned out I couldn't put a charging point on my listed house, and we couldn't fit the dog crate in the boot without taking up almost the entire space). BUT when the collection driver came, he put both keys on the phone-charging mat in front of the gear lever... and by the time he'd done all his checks (30 minutes?), both keys were working. So are the keys rechargeable on a wireless charger? That's brilliant.

How to find exact spec....
Yes, I think it's a lovely colour - interesting without being garish. Motorpoint just got the iV I rejected collected (all the neighbours probably thought it was being re-possessed), and that was electric blue. Definitely on the way to being garish but actually a really nice colour too.

How to find exact spec....
Well, me being stupid: the report most definitely did say the colour code at the top of the first page - which turns out to be Lava Blue. I chose this car out of the 40 or 5 almost identical ones on Arnold Clark's site because it was best value. It turns out it was best colour (for me and wife) too. Lucky.

How to find exact spec....
Yes, three or four in German for me too. I wish it had included the paint colour, too - but it didn't. Waiting for the car to arrive, I have no idea what exact shade of blue it is. In Arnold Clark's photos it actually looks like a dark slightly violet blue, which doesn't seem to exist in Skoda's colour chart. I'm hoping the photo colour has been messed about by fluorescent lighting, and it's actually that rich greeny-blue (lava blue??) but I'm going to have to wait and see, I think.

Well, France does have some warm parts.... unlike England, obviously: mine (made 20 days after yours) has a code of 8Z5: "Not hot country" .

Any advance on three?
😄 Right now, I'm the proud owner of three Octavia automatic estates! 1. 2014 1.2l petrol automatic - had it about 7 years, totally reliable, quiet, 40-45 mpg, spacious, brilliant car. Not sure what to do with it - probably not worth much, Hoping to pass it on to a friend or family for very little money. It does have a nasty nearside dent where my wife reversed into a bollard. £35 road tax, so it can sit off-road for a time while its future is decided. 2. 2022 iV - bought from Motorpoint, delivered last week, but it had a load of niggles - scraping rear wiper, one key dead, no tyre inflation kit , sketchy 3-year service - plus the reduced load area made it un-usable for me. AND the local authority refuse listed building permission for any charging point, even a 13A socket. It's being collected tomorrow. Motorpoint were very good about it. 3. 2024 1.5 e-Tec SL - being transported down some time soon by Arnold Clark (just the little trip from Aberdeen to Exeter). Very excited - I've gone through life buying four-to-ten-year-old cars - and finally have sprung for one that's less than a year old. That should easily last me till they take my licence away.

And it really was worth 3 quid. 6 pages of mostly very useful info. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/226517872578?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=nGO17j9xSwi&sssrc=2047675&ssuid=b7yi6osrr9a&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

How to find exact spec....
I think I know why.... it turned out that one of the key batteries was totally dead. I imagine the car has to recognise both keys for the log-in to work. This was actually one of many little niggles with the car that I bought through Motorpoint, When it was delivered, the rear wiper was squealing horribly, and the heating seemed to have a life of its own - stiflingly hot. Later I discovered there was no tyre inflation system. I think Motorpoint had rushed the car out without a proper check. The service info at three years was almost non-existent too. They'd have probably fixed these issues, but I discovered two major personal downsides to the iV estate, 1,) I can't put any charging equipment on my house because it's listed (local authority crazily turned this down on another house a few months ago). Not even a 13A socket! 2.) The reduced boot space meant I had to fit the dog crate crossways rather than longways - and that practically used up all the boot space. So it's going back - a shame because there's something really nice about going off on a little trip to a park to walk the dog and coming back with not a ml of petrol used. Motorpoint have been really good about accepting the return. I'll probably lose the 299 quid delivery charge, but that's life.

For 3 euros it was worth a try! cheers, will post here if the results are useful.

How to find exact spec....
Skoda customer services kindly replied to my email, but the specs they sent are as minimal as the service info: Metallic paint, black upholstery, 'Optional equipment -100. Rest - Factory steering code' Child lock in rear doors (manual). Not exactly useful.

How to find exact spec....
I did get the service info (such as it is) from [email protected] within a couple of hours of emailing them, so I've tried them for the exact spec too. At lest not being able to get the car to recognise my Skoda account will stop it saying 'Hello Peter' when I fire it up. On the other hand, the message saying 'Don't forget your phone' was a really useful intervention.

I now have the MySkoda app, but have failed to get the car to recognise me as the new main user and activate it. I tried several times, following exact instructions.

How to find exact spec....
After spending a minute or two lifting my foot under the rear bumper, I've come to the conclusion that my newly-bought Jan 22 iV estate doesn't have that boot-opening feature. The neighbours enjoyed the spectacle, though. But it raised the question: how do I find the exact spec of this car (at least from when it was bought new)? Of course the paper manual isn't specific to this car. When the manual referred to a digital manual I thought 'ah, brilliant, they have a digital version specific to this VIN'. That doesn't look like it's the case. I bought the car from Motorpoint. Don't laugh. I foolishly didn't get a copy of the original ad, and that's now of course disappeared. I know I can do it by trial and error.... but a definitive list would be helpful.

Fuel flap not opening
Locking and unlocking the car using the remote and then pushing the fuel filler cap has worked for me each time, touch wood. Sometimes needs a couple of tries.

Fuel flap not opening
Fantastic! Thanks very much for this great advice. I have about ten miles of fuel left after going to the garage and the cap refusing to open (even after repeated start/drive/stop cycles) - was getting desperate. This worked a treat. And so simple. THANKS!
