  1. I think you've done all you can to be honest. Mines ok when it's cold, but as it warms up it can lock you out of 1st and 2nd altogether... Although I think in my case worn bearings are the cause, the box rumbles while driving so I think it's only a matter of time.
  2. It was my niece's car before, I think the damage was done then ! If yours is struggling into first it might be worth resetting the gear cables. A five minute job that takes hours to explain... I'm sure I've seen a guide on the forum.
  3. Just coming up to 110k on the original clutch too...
  4. Thanks again ! I'll add that to the list.
  5. Thanks for that, I'm just wondering what the difference is between the two boxes. I'm worried there might be an extra spline on the input shaft or needs a certain clutch etc... If it's just gear ratios then I'm not bothered really - performance is not the MPI's strong point !
  6. Hi all ! This is my first post on the site so please be gentle... I've been working on cars for many years and a gearbox swap is always a real sod of a job. My trusty 03 plate Fabia 1.4 mpi (AQW) is about to loose its gearbox, the bearings are shot and I'm sure the selector forks are badly worn too. A rebuilt gearbox is too expensive so a used one is the answer, trouble is I can't find a gearbox like mine (002 GCG) anywhere - or at least one I would want to pay for, some of the sellers are asking crazy money for rusty junk, let alone something usable... Is there a similar gearbox code that will fit in place of a GCG box, such as a FNK ? Or perhaps someone has a list of boxes compatible with the AQW engine ? I'm a bit low on funds at the moment, so just some information would be useful. Any help would be greatly appreciated !
