I’ve had a reoccurring problem for the past two years now. The car will show the engine light (p2108, throttle actuator control module performance), then a couple of days later the car won’t start (I can get it to start by manually pushing the air control flap). When the problem first happened, I took the car to the garage and they replaced the air control flap (the part next to the egr that looks like a throttle body.) The car worked for a couple of months, then the unit got bunged up again and the same thing happened. I have since had the unit replaced 4 times and the same thing always happens (also costs a lot of money - £200 pounds a piece). I also had the engine decarbonised, and the egr replaced (again, this fixed it for a few weeks and then the problem reoccurred). I’ve now started to just clean the unit whenever the engine light comes on, but don’t want to keep on doing this forever. Every mechanic just tells me I need a new air control flap, but I know for a fact that the problem will reoccur. Any ideas on what the roots of the problem may be.
