  1. I had the same issue, have you formatted the card and extracted all the file from fresh? The solution was to copy a specific old file back onto the card and mine started working again, I'll try and find which one it is as I did it a while ago.
  2. Thank you everyone for the replies and useful info, I've been super busy so not been on for a while or had chance to sort anything with the car! The problem is still there even after driving a couple of hundred miles and the brakes now squeak randomly, usually when going slow in car parks but not applying the brake. I'm in no way a mechanic but every other mod I've done on the car has gone well so I like to think I'm pretty competent with things, with that being said excuse if any of the following are daft suggestions... I went at all 4 with a hand wire brush and meticulously cleaned each one, I know a drill brush would be more efficient. Thinking about it now the old back discs came off a lot easier than the front, however when putting the new ones on they seems to be very snug on the hub with some resistance when mounting them. I have a feeling this could be it if I am correct in thinking the hub might be pushing the disc forward slightly? The discs are brand new so I don't think warping should be an issue, should it? I do have a laser level, how would one go about using it to test this? If I were to take the backs off again would rewinding the callipers back in fully be of any benefit? I think I'm right in thinking brakes somewhat self adjust when pumping the pedal so this would mean if it were the callipers they would be catching on the entire discs rather than just part of it in my case? If all else fails looks like I'm going to have to take it to a garage, which I didn't really want to do as I like fixing (or breaking it seems) things myself and it would negate the cost of doing a DIY job in the first place.
  3. Next we have badges, out with the chrome in with the black! I originally only changed the wheel hub covers to VRS branded ones, again these were purchased from AliExpress and again the quality was pretty decent for the price. Eventually thought the red and green paint faded to white, probably through washing with wheel cleaner. I perceived though and ordered another set of the same ones, however this time I PPF'd each one before putting it on the car and to this day they look like they did when I first bought them. My wheels take 56mm caps like these. Earlier last month I decided to change all the badges to black, I had purchased them ages ago and just never got round to doing them. Skoda front and rear badge both 90mm VRS badge front and rear Skoda and Octavia lettering, the listings get removed very quickly probably for copyright issues. I had a issues with the front and rear logo badge, the built in sticky pad was sticky and stuck well but after a few days of getting rained on it failed. I tired legit 3M automotive pads but these also failed after a while, I think it maybe to do with the curvature of the badge to the body of the car. In the end the solution was to remove all the stick pads and just use good old tiger seal. The sticky pads on the lettering and VRS badges has been spot on and seems to be of the same quality the factory badges used. I was very meticulous when cleaning the area using Bilt Hamber cleanser fluid to remove any excess material left behind when remove the original badges. Making sure the area was taped off and marking the edge of every letter to make sure I got the spacing as accurate as possible. The only badge I haven't change is the front grill VRS badge. The ones from AliExpress are the same size as the stock rear, however the stock grill badge is significantly smaller. I was reluctant to change this as I feel the one I have purchased will look too big on the grill and I cannot find a smaller version that matches it.
  4. The next thing to tackle was tyres. Although P Zeros are meant to be a decent enough tyre they just felt too slippery for my liking even though they had plenty of tread left in them. Decided to switch all 4 for Pilot Sport 4Ss and what a difference it made, it felt like driving a different car especially in the wet. There was so much more grip and they give you the confidence to really push it around corners. Sold the old P-Zeros om eBay so not all was lost. Just my luck a few months later I hit a moon crater of a pot hole and my lovely new tyre was no more! Good job they're only £170 a corner!
  5. Next job on the list was to make the car look more sporty from the outside, think Skoda missed a trick not putting any factory splitters on the car to make it look more aggressive. I purchased a full kit from Maxton; front splitter, side skirts and rear splitter. Install wise they weren't too bad, luckily I have a raised drive so can get under the front and back of the car by hanging it off the edge. The side skirts were a little more tricky as I noticed when doing a test fit I would loose all the sill jacking points. Think I didn't end up doing them for over a year as I was afraid to cut them and kept putting it off.
  6. Update! So I thought the sound had gone, but it hasn't its just intermittent. I have been doing a few new mods today and had the wheels off which gave me a chance to see if they were catching, they are! Both rear discs are slightly rubbing on the pads when spinning the wheels, hence I can only here it when driving and not braking. What's the best course of action to fix this?
  7. Improved boot lighting is so much better, this photo was taken when it was pitch black outside.
  8. Another interior mod I made courtesy of an Ali Express special, is to install paddle shift extensions (Like These). I was really surprised how good quality they were considering the price and they are yet to come unstuck after about 2/3 years of use, buying cheap sometimes pays off!
  9. Next on the list was to fix the interior lighting. Not sure why the car didn't come with LED interior lighting as standard as the old style bulbs made the cabin dark and with such a vast boot made it impossible to see in it at night. I replaced all the bulbs in the car with LED ones and the footwell and boot lighting with LED units (Similar to these) I also change the red front door lights for projection ones, just because they look cool and were cheap to change (Found Here)
  10. I hadn't planned on this being a project car but once the mods start they're hard to stop! The first thing I tackled was the stock air filter as I wanted to make the car sound more sporty, even though the challenge model supposably has a more sporty exhaust being a GPF model it was far too quiet for my liking. I decided or a Forge Carbon Fibre Intake Kit with a Foam Cone Filter(Found Here) I had my first mishap when installing this as the holes on the intake just wouldn't line up with the car and the bolts wouldn't screw in fully. I ended up stripping both rivet nuts so they were just spinning in place. I managed to fix this myself, rather than sending it back to Forge, by purchasing a cheapish rivet nut gun from Amazon and replaced both nuts and used some new bolts. This time it went in like a dream, thankfully!
  11. Coming from a remapped and slightly modified Fabia MK3 I wanted something a bit more sporty with a lot more oomph! Originally I had set my sights on a Meteor Grey Octavia, but when I saw my pop up on Auto Trader I didn't hesitate and a week or so later she was all mine!
  12. Even when I got it going and greased up it was stiffer to rewind than the other side but it was fully in. About a third of the calliper rim did show signs of rust but I would be surprised with the age of the car and miles I do if the calliper has had it. The sound is actually more like a when you used to put a card in your bike spokes as a kid, but a lot more subtle, I can only hear it with the window open really. As luck would have it on the way home from work today I couldn't hear it at all, so maybe it is rubbing ever so slightly and will bed in soon? (hopefully)
  13. I don't believe so there was enough clearance when I installed them, but I'll double check. The noise is more subtle, it's hard to explain but kind of like sandpaper on a surface.
  14. For nearly the past year the rear drivers side brake has been squeaking, to start it was when I braked at low speed then transitioned into all the time when not braking. This was reported to Skoda last June when the car was in for a service but they said nothing was wrong and it might just be water on the brakes. I was looking at changing all the discs and pads anyway as the old ones were looking tatty and I wanted something more sporty looking to match the cars aesthetics. Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago I ordered a set from Awesome, these to be exact: https://www.awesomegti.com/awesome-disc-and-pad-combo-mqb-platform-340mm-f-310mm-r/ Having never changed brakes before I prepared myself with guides and YouTube vids and being pretty handy myself found change them over to not be as bad as I thought, until it came to the right rear! I couldn't for the life of me get the piston to retract back into the calliper no matter how hard I tried. Thank goodness for this forum as I found @beezera10 had given the suggestion to mount the calliper without the disc to get enough torque on the rewind tool without doing a juggling act. Finally after lots of swearing I got it to go back in cleaned and lubed it thoroughly and I thought that was that. Now for my current issue, when driving I can hear a slight grinding sound when driving coming from the troublesome right rear. Is it new calliper time or does anyone have any suggestions as to what I might have done wrong? Pics are of the fronts
  15. Hi, could you please send me the latest version for mine if there is one. I am having intermittent issues with android auto not connecting. Many thanks in advance
  16. My 2020 Octavia VRS 245 Challenge Edition after its first detail back in May, absolutely loving the car and the power coming from a MK3 Fabia.
