Hi All,
I wonder if anyone can help with this query.
The PID that came with my '63 plate has given up the ghost.
I've decided to go down the new holder route and use Tom Tom Go on my phone.
I've bought the new holder and the new dashboard fitting, as the securing lugs are differently located on the holder due to the new holder having provision for a USB power feed.
All was going well until i removed the existing dashboard mount, which revealed there to be a small pcb within it, rather than a nicely 'disconnectable' connector, that i could have just tucked out of the way.
It looks like the pcb maybe housing the 'bluetooth' connectivity for phone connection (not sure thought). Or maybe whatever is needed to display the vehicle function options, which i presume come from a connection into the obd?
My problem is that it doesn't look particularly easy to disconnect at the dash end, so i'm wondering if a can just disconnect at the radio end and pull the length of loom through in one piece.
I have fashioned a solution (we have some machining facilities at work) that has allowed me to connect the new phone holder to the existing holder, but i'd rather use the new holder in its entirety.
Does anyone know if the harness from the dash mount simply goes into the rear of the radio and if disconnected, would it be likely to cause any issues with the radio function?
Many Thanks in advance.
BR
Steve
