  1. Forgot to mention (which I'm guessing is connected,) - the window up for the passenger side sometimes won't close on auto up, as soon as the window reaches the top it goes down again, I have to try several times holding the up switch on D/S until it will finally work, then last couple of weeks the D/S window will not close on auto and I need to hold the button in the up position for it to close,
  2. I've loved Skoda's for many years having bought a Favorit many many years ago, I've had 2 Superbs and now the Karoq, but this is seriously making me think of changing to another brand
  3. Pearl Wilson, Mechanic's Assistant Welcome! What's going on with your car? Hi, my Karoq has just gone in for the oil/ service at Skoda West Yorkshire, Once again I'm still having issues with the Columbus infotainment system, (stops working, freezes, phone wont connect, occasionally switches from phone to the sim on it's own Etc). When I bought the cat new in 2019 no issues, then they recalled it saying there was an issue with the PS door system, which affects the Columbus??? (I'd not noticed anything at that point), all done under warranty. in approx 2nd to 3rd year I started having issues (stops working, freezes etc). they checked it and said they had looked at the door system, which is a known issue connected to the Columbus? which they say they'd fixed, however I still kept getting issues. Shortly after warranty expires (3 yrs) they then started to agree there were still issues and said I needed to have both door systems replaced and if I contributed to cost (£600+) they would do it... Staggered by this I said no to paying and they refused to fix it. As I say, it's now gone into garage to do service, I've listed every fault on paper and said I will contact Skoda HO if this is not fixed, quoting that they knew there were issues before the end of warranty. I've now been looking online and see there are a lot of people experiencing same issues and this is not the "one -off" situation the dealership had led me to believe, Where do I stand
  4. Just booked in to have fitted this Friday I took your advice CWARD, they have confirmed this is with a dedicated 13 pin wiring and Coding, went for the detachable Westfalia. I'll post my opinion on completion, (P.S. all places I went for quotes were informed that the Preparation was done when built)
  5. Yep, that's my thoughts, well I'll ring Monday and confirm, have a great weekend
  6. CWARD, Ok so I rang back PF Jones, spoke to another guy who when I said how much for the 13 pin connection type, said that takes it to £736!!! I then did a lot of phoning round to approved reputable tow bar providers (mostly Witter & Westfalia approved)places in this vicinity, and a couple of national come to you websites too. The best price I've found for a Westfalia detachable tow bar and fitting - including coding with 13 pin type connector with me having Tow bar prep already was Barnsley Tow Bar Centre, they have quoted, with VAT £620.18 for my car (I believe that is with the dedicated wiring loom so no plastic crimps) I'm going to mull it over the weekend and book it in on Monday probably Thanks to all for very useful advice The photos of the grill were a big help, yes mine are approx 4" grill openings - but no idea how the heck you got to take photo of fan label! I have a cheap endoscope and couldn't get to a point where I could read that label
  7. Understood, and thanks for the wiring & fitting manuals, I'm tempted to fit myself but conscious that having it done professionally gives me a safety net lol Plus unbolting things on my brand new cars is scarier than completely stripping down the old car LOL
  8. Cheers CWARD, When I was speaking with PF Jones guy about the 7 or 13 pin, this depends on whether it's for towing a basic trailer or a caravan (Caravan needing more supply to the electrics- heaters/ fridges etc I guess) For my use 7 pin is fine, but are you saying that I must have the 13 pin version to fit to the Karoq's system?
  9. Update, Called PF Jones, they can send a guy to me to do the fitting, costs for the Wesfalia detachable tow bar is £684 inclusive of VAT - a saving of £310 and thats assuming Skoda have added the VAT to their price!
  10. Cheers CWARD, very helpful, I'm similar we do all sorts of "tinkering", I've a Classic MX5 Mk1 i'm restoring and other bits so know what you mean My only concern was about affecting warranties, hence wondering about using a business to do it. Does the Westfalia come with what appears to be a simple plug to connect in the boot then? I'll give PF Jones and see what they can offer...
  11. Hi all, I bought a 19 plate 2.0 TDI 4x4 Edition. I paid to have the Tow Bar prep, as like many I see reading this comments page have. I've read with great interest that someone has found out the the Prep INCLUDES the Cooling system fittings (Really glad about that, from what I've read in comments regarding the troubles if you haven't!) I see the member called CWARD (who appears to be from near me seems to know his stuff and I suspect works within Skoda maybe?) might be able to point me to a reputable Tow Bar fitter in West Yorkshire. I did contact the dealer I bought the car from, the Sales guy is really helpful and I'm lucky in that they dealership have been great.... however I asked for a price to fit a tow bar and this was the Service managers response "Tow bar fitted price is £994, In addition to this we have to inspect the cooling fan to check if it requires upgrading, if it requires upgrading it is an additional £415" After calling a local tow bar fitter who said around £650 (without knowing I'd had the prep done) , I found Skoda's prices way too expensive I think I'm swaying to the P H Jones option unless you can tell me different? P/S I'm only looking to tow a light/ med weight trailer most of the time, no caravans!
