  1. Hi, many thanks to all who have assisted with my query. Looking through replies/previous threads I believe that the noise is probably related to the CV joints. It is not present when the car is stationary and the front wheels are turned from lock-to-lock, not something I would ordinarily do. However, when the car is slowing moving in either a forward or reverse direction over a smooth surface, the noise is all too apparent. It is now immediately present at 13DegC ambient temperature, or after a short drive if the temperature is colder - therefore, it is getting worse. Have just had a conversation with Skoda Customer Services UK and they are prohibited from giving out technical data - this has to come from the technicians at the dealerships. There is really no way forward now - dealerships have told me to go to Skoda UK and vice-versa. Why would something that is considered a 'characteristic' of the vehicle be getting worse? Incidentally, has anyone had the CV joints looked at or even replaced on their Superb? Mine has covered fewer than 11k miles but the noise was first noticed at 2k miles during a hot spell. Very disappointed with Skoda's response and not at all what I would expect.
  2. Hi. Can anyone please assist with the following query as our local Skoda dealerships appear to have exhausted all avenues? We took delivery of our Superb Estate at the end of 2016. We were really pleased with it, particularly the comfort and whisper-quiet 1.4TSi engine. However, during our first summer with the car, 2017, we began to notice a clicking noise whilst manoeuvring at low speed. The volume of this noise appeared to be directly related to the ambient temperature; the warmer the weather, the more noticeable the noise. We reported this to one of our local dealerships and it was agreed that the car would be looked at during its first annual service. Unfortunately, due to the anniversary of its registration falling within December, the weather was cold and the noise could not be heard, but a visual inspection of the vehicle concluded that there was nothing untoward or to be concerned about. The following summer the noise reappeared, usually becoming apparent at anything over 24degC ambient temperature. The car was taken back to the dealership for assessment; a defective steering rack was the diagnosis. We were then without the vehicle for a period in excess of 6 weeks while a replacement steering rack was sourced. Eventually, we were informed that the car was ready for collection. We duly attended the dealership to collect the car, only to find that the noise was still there. The dealership held onto the vehicle thinking now that the noise was suspension related. I cannot be too sure of what was done next but from the little detail I did receive, it sounded like the mounts/material/grease for the shock absorbers was changed- like I say , not too sure. To cut a long story short, the car has subsequently been back to another local Skoda dealership on a number of occasions for them to get to the bottom of this noise, which now appears at anything above 16degC whilst manoeuvring. They have basically told me that the vehicle is safe to drive and that it is a 'characteristic' of the vehicle. They have told me what it isn't but cannot tell me what it is and if I require further information I should contact Skoda Customer Services. This I have done, only to be told that because it is a 'technical issue' I should take it up with the technicians at the dealership. Therefore, we are currently at an impasse. I am losing confidence with Skoda generally, and dealerships that have needlessly changed out a number of components. The Superb is the fifth Skoda we have owned as we have always been pleased with the brand and the value for money they represent and have never had any issues. However, if Skoda cannot provide me with the definitive reason for this noise and why it is becoming worse then it will definitely be our last. Has anyone else come across this noise and what, if anything, was done to eliminate it? Any information regarding the cause would be gratefully received. Many thanks indeed.
