1998 Vw Polo mk3 6n1 1.6 AEE Engine .

I have mentioned above it is a Skoda Felicia Combi with the 1.6 litre AEE engine...

So Skoda suggests to change the Timing belt every 5 years from the date of Installation.. Right ?

My Timing belt is Continental brand Do you mean 5 years from the date of installation ??

My timing belt brand is Continental, i dont drive much km , my timing belt is intalled 4 years ago and only driven 10,000 km, So i will change the belt every 5 years from the date of installation.

there is no noises and there is no cracks it all works fine ... but i want to know the recommended km/years change interval .......

What is the recommended km/years for the timing belt to change it ??

Hi guys, I have Skoda Felicia combi with the 1.6 litre AEE engine, i drive about 5000km per year, i have changed the Timing Belt (Continental brand) 4 years ago and have only driven about 10,000 km in those 4 years and i checked the Timing Belt and it looks fine with no cracks or anything, So now I want to know when should i change the Timing belt km/years and if i dont drive much, how many years can i wait before changing it ???

I have been using Mannol Defender 10w40 semi synthetic engine oil for about 3 years now and it is doing great with me, i begin to use it since i swap the original 1.3 litre engine of the car and replace it with the 1998 VW Polo 6N1 1.6 AEE engine and attach it to the original 1.3 gearbox, my trusty mechanic do this swap job since 3 years and the car is doing great with no issues bec. my original 1.3 gearbox is in good condition and most of the gearboxes in the used parts market always whinning bec they are stored for years without using.

Well guys i treat my car well, it is my father's car, he bought it brand new in 1996 and he still use it till today, so we are the first owners of this car, the thing is our gearbox has never changed so this is the original gearbox since it was new and my father always used 80w90 mineral gear oil so the gearbox get used to 80w90 mineral GL-4 and it is running good with it, and i use good quality engine oil which is Mannol Defender 10w40 semi-synthetic oil, ATE DOT 4 for brakes and IADA cooant for cooling system and they are all doing great and never had a problem using these products, So for me as far as the car is running good overall, i don't like to change or switch to another brand of oil or fluids, i like to stick with these products all the time.

What is the viscosity of Redline is it 80w90 or what ?? and is it Mineral or Semi Synthetic or Synthetic gearbox oil ??

So guys end of the line here, i use Mannol Universal 80w90 Mineral gearbox oil and it is doing great with me, I drive my car maximum about 5000 km per year no more than that and sometimes less than 5000 km, So should i change the Gearbox oil every 3 years or 5 years or what ????

I use Mannol Universal 80w90 GL-4 and it is a Mineral oil, it is the best choice for me and for my budget and it is doing very well with me in the summer and winter, i change the Gearbox oil about 2 years ago now and i have only drive about 4000 km since i change it, So what is the Gearbox oil change interval Km/Years for this oil ??

i measure the fuel consumption but not 100% accurately, it is about 12.5 litre/100Km maximum in city heavy traffic and about 10 litre/100Km in highway and sometimes lower than 10 litre/100Km. That's good for a used 1.6 AEE engine, my Car was stock on 1.3 engine and i swapped it by the 1.6 AEE 3 years ago, the 1.6 AEE is a used engine that have over 100,000 km and it's condition is very good and clean and smooth.

Man here in Egypt it is ****ed up, things are very expensive and salaries are not going up, here in Egypt if you ride a Skoda Felicia you are considered a Middle class and if you ride a Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi or Skoda Octavia whether they are new or old 80s - 90s models you considered Upper class Rich, But i like to take care of my car, it is my Father's car he buy it brand new in 1996, so we are the original owners and my father still use it, but me personally i like to drive only for Joyride purpose, i don't like to use my car in heavy traffic in the afternoon and **** up my driving experience and Joy, and here in Egypt traffic are always heavy everyday from the afternoon till 9:00 pm at night, so i don't like to use my car in my daily transportation i get bored from heavy traffic, only my father use it once and sometimes twice a week for transportation.

Those Fail-Safe thermostat are not available for the 1.6 AEE engine, And anyways i am good with the thermostat delete, and me and my father never use the car in city to city trips, we only use it in the city so i don't need the thermostat, I've been driving with thermostat delete for 3 years now and things are doing Great

Actually 15°C in winter here in Alexandria Egypt is cold bec. Alexandria is on the Mediterranean Sea and sometimes it gets to 10°C in the coldest days in Winter, I don't drive the car until it is warmed up especially in Winter it takes 10 min to fully warm up then i drive, Actually the car overcools when i exceed the speed of 100 km/h and it return to its normal temperature ( 80-85°C ) when i lower the speed to 80 km/h and that only happen in the cold days of Winter but in Summer the car doesn't overcools even when i drive at 120 km/h but in normal i dont exceed 90 km/h bec i don't like highspeeds it is very danger in any car, So i like to enjoy my driving calm and safely .

For me here in Egypt i don't need the Thermostat and most 1.6 AEE owners whatever it is on Skoda or VW here in Egypt they delete the Thermostat for engine safety reasons bec. the Thermostat always get Stuck closed bec most Thermostat brands here in Egypt are bad so it can burn the Engine and sometimes the engine overheats in summer when it is have Thermostat. But the only disadvantage for me of Thermostat delete that in the Winter season especially in cold days that the temperature get 15°C when i drive the car over 100 km/h it gets underheated, the temperature gauge get under 80°C like 75° minimum.

On my 1.6 AEE i have the Coolant temperature sensor (that sensor under the Distributor) but i delete the thermostat so i am driving now for 3 years without thermostat and that is better for me and the car here in Egypt.

IADA coolant is available here in Egypt since 1999, it is a bit expensive but it is good quality and there is other brands that are better than IADA like Mobil, Hepu and Mannol but they are a lot more expensive that IADA

It is Alexandria a city in Egypt not ''Iskandar'' Anyways i use 10% IAT coolant (inorganic acid technology) for an european brand named IADA it is green coolant ''Ready to Use'' so it doesn't bother me to mix it with distilled water and its boiling point is 105°C I've been using it for three years now it is doing good with my car, Anyways the weather here doesn't freeze and i flush the cooling system, clean and change the coolant every 12 months.
