  1. Ah ok. Thanks for that. I'll see about sending it back for a refund and have a look at the one you linked. Appreciated
  2. This is it. Tried googling rosstech cables but none came up here in Australia. So will vcds only work with rosstech specific cables? This one was $40 and claims to be compatible with all recent vehicles. https://obd2australia.com.au/product/obd2-to-usb-elm327-cable-scan-tool/?gclid=CjwKCAjwkoz7BRBPEiwAeKw3qwXC1Hn7V2Ta0Xr0amhRzSe5YfMvtezLicXTpIKFKRY0gnOFtonHORoCmYQQAvD_BwE
  3. Didn't know there was a genuine vcds plug. Thought it was just generic. Have signed up to rosstech forums so will ask on there.
  4. Hey hey, Downloaded and installed vcds on surface pro and connected via USB to my 2015 Octavia rs. Windows said the driver installed fine but when I go to options>test I get the error of 'not found'. I searched in the device manager for the road tech driver under USB controllers buy can't seem to find it. Thoughts?
  5. Unfortunately no. Only new to the whole OBD2 thing thanks to disconnecting the battery and subsequently having all the issues the last couple of days. Guess I'm just gonna have to trust the electrician is doing right by me. Ain't cheap though!
  6. Would it possible for disconnecting the battery to affect the alternator? Car is at the auto electricians and they said they have cleared the errors but the battery isn't charging. Just a coincidence from disconnecting the battery and possible preexisting problem with the alternator??
  7. Thanks for that. So when I've got the vcds plugged into the car what do I have to change if keeping the existing battery? I read elsewhere that I just need to change battery serial number by 1 I.e. serial number:xxxxx1 to xxxxx2?
  8. Sorry to raise up an old thread. Made the mistake of disconnecting the battery while mucking around with steering wheel (don't ask). Long story short car is flashing up all the warnings like above and battery stopped charging. Car is at the autoelectrian now but it's now made me curious about vcds and OBD2 plug to sort out this sort of stuff myself. Can anyone point me to the right sort of plug I need to get to connect my Octavia to my laptop? Or can you use those cheap Bluetooth ones? Appreciated
  9. Thanks mate. Will Google for airbag removal to see if that's more helpful.
  10. Hey hey, The selection spinner thingy on the right side of steering wheel for the phone etc fell apart so now I can't select anything and it's stuck on the mobile setting. I'm having trouble finding a secondhand rocker switch to replace it. Found one on eBay for about 75pounds (I'm in Australia). Have a 2015rs. Can they be found cheaper? Also, it looks like it just plugs in, so is there any guide or advice to remove and replace it by yourself? Help/advice appreciated!
  11. Hey hey, have brought a 2015 octavia rs162 tsi. The outside rear mirrors arent folding in when parked and locked. Tried a method mentioned in the forums to wind down all windows and up again to reset the settings but no go. There also is no option for it in the infotainment unit or on the knob on the door. Is it possible thus car doesnt have the folding mirrors? Is it an 'option' when you first by a skoda new?
