  1. I tried the button underneath the right-hand wiper stalk. It doesn't appear to do anything other that change the MFD display between "1" and "2" (history)? So I looked on YouTube for Skoda Fabia Service Reset MK2 and got the following: Close all vehicle doors and ensure the ignition is switched off. Press and HOLD the 0.0 (right) button. Keep holding the 0.0 button and turn the ignition key to on. Release the 0.0 button. Now press the Display Mode (left "folders") button. Let go of everything and the deed is done. I tried that and it didn't work - I suspect that there is more to it :(
  2. Just seen this topic; I am keen to add a double USB socket to support a DashCam and a Garmin and a SatNav. I have found the following two items on the UK Amazon site: https://www.amazon.co.uk/product-reviews/B07C96SP75/ref=acr_dp_hist_1?ie=UTF8&filterByStar=one_star&reviewerType=all_reviews#reviews-filter-bar and https://www.amazon.co.uk/Charge-Charger-Socket-Voltmeter-Motorcycle/dp/B084S64LLR/ref=redir_mobile_desktop?ie=UTF8&aaxitk=dWeCaf.vhI1TNQqIbsbi1g&hsa_cr_id=3609615860302&ref_=sbx_be_s_sparkle_td_asin_0 Can someone tell me where to wire it up so that it is only powered up when the ignition is switched on (to save the battery).
  3. Thanks, I'll give that a go. I have had the car for two and a half years and I have had it serviced annually. As a result of the last Lockdown it was serviced a couple of months ago, I can't remember the exact date.
  4. Hi e-Roottoot, very many thanks for a speedy reply. I have no idea whether it is on Fixed or Variable servicing - how would I tell? I looked at the link you provided and can see how one resets from the Service Menu but I am not sure how I can get to that menu? How do the "four way flashers" come into it? I get the impression that : With the engine switched off, I should press and HOLD the 0.00 (right) button. I should keep holding the 0.00 button and turn the ignition key to on. The Display should read "Service Now!" - as it happens, it doesn't - YET! I keep holding the 0.00 button and then press the MINUTE button for the clock set (is this the Left button?). Let go of everything and the deed is done. For what it is worth, it isn't actually telling me that a "Service is due NOW!", just in six days time. Incidentally, the http://volkswagen.co.uk/owners/servicing/regimes doesn't work any longer.
  5. When last I had my 2013 Fabia vRS serviced, the independent (non Skoda) service garage didn't reset the setting for when my next service is due. As a result, every morning when I start up my car I get a message on the display saying that my "Next service is due in X days". I believe that it is relatively easy to clear this message - how do I do this?
  6. Thanks for that, I can't find/read the part numbers, would you be able to list them and I will price them up at EuroCarParts. The Brake Fluid can probably be replaced at the same time as the garage does the disks and pads. I don't plan to do anything about the Air Con. As a point of interest, I would always tend to stick to Castrol Edge 5W/40 FST - personal preference, I used to love the smell of Castrol 'R' back in the day :)
  7. Not particularly - just one more thing to go wrong . . . now if you were offering a Tesla, that would be different!
  8. I will take your sensible advice about changing the spark plugs. It seems that they were actually changed in December 2016 - how time flies! I can't be sure what Denso plugs they are without having them removed but I suspect that they were probably SKJ20CR-A8#4. The Skoda garage also made recommendations about: Servicing the air conditioning - £139 Servicing the brake fluid - £99 Replacing the front disks - £405 Replacing the rear disks - £320 Replacing the rear disk pads - £48 I will attend to all these in the near future but probably not at a Skoda garage - I would also change the front disk pads at the same time as changing the disks.
  9. Thanks I was not using Cruise Control - it isn't fitted. I will get the Denso plugs replaced at my local dealership - which I trust. Any other suggestions?
  10. Hi, new poster here. I have a question related to error codes on a regularly serviced 2013 CTHE vRS with 60k miles on the clock. Recently on a journey along the M4 from Bristol to London I had the amber "Control system for exhaust" light come on (an image of an engine). I stopped at a service station for a coffee and when I started up again, the light had gone off and stayed off for the rest of the journey. The car seemed to behave normally, it didn't go into "Limp mode". I tend to drive within the speed limit almost all of the time and I don't thrash the car. I booked the car into my local dealer for diagnosis of the fault. They kept calling the fault light the "Engine management system" for some reason; however that isn't my question. The report suggests that there have been intermittent misfires detected at random times on each of the four cylinders for quite a while, they have cleared the fault log. They said that there was no loss of compression on the engine - which is a relief. I have a report listing some of the fault details, the dates and the times. When I asked what the cause of the misfires might be they said that they couldn't tell without further checks but they would start by looking at the spark plugs and then the coil packs. I had new (Denso) spark plugs fitted about two and a half years ago. I typically use 97 RON fuel although from time to time I have used Tesco 99 RON and as it happens I had recently filled up with Shell 99 RON - I have used both of these latter fuels in the past, apparently without problems. "The car is not an "Oil burner". Does anyone have any idea as to what the cause of the misfires might be?
