  1. ive got this problem. has anyone been successful making a claim?
  2. I was travelling back from London during the week and hit something. I didn't notice any problems but when I came out to my car yesterday morning the front left plastic grille (near the fog light) has gone, and the fog light is damaged - it's not working and it's loose in the bumper. I've had a quick look around and can't see the items I need to fix the problem. I assume it shouldn't be too difficult to fix myself to be fair - but there's some rubber tubing hanging down also. Can anyone point me in the right direction of replacement parts. I assume I'd have to get the grille bit sprayed. Hope someone can help! Cheers Phil
  3. A friend has a 07 Fabia SE and the Flywheel is on it's way out. What sort of price are we talking for a replacement + fitting? They said they were quoted in the region of £1,000 for parts and labour. I'm bricking it if mine goes!
  4. Why do people have to be such idiots? He's asking about a car, not to judge his driving. Get a grip! I'd go for a similar Seat Ibiza 130TDI for a change. Look quite nice from the outside too.
  5. Issue currently with the blowers in my car. They don't appear to be very powerful. Lots of noise comping from the interior filter but it appears to be working...is it a case or refitting this filter or what? It took ages to clear the windscreen this morning. Virtually no oomph when it comes to the blowers on the windscreen.
  6. If there's water on the door seal. It can't have been done correctly in my opinion. I'd have another go. I'd put loads of sealant on and make sure you follow the guide religiously.
  7. The 187 will probably not include allignment. It wasn't covered under my warranty claim - and I think a few places try to fob you off by saying it's not necessary. You're unlikely to get it much cheaper from a dealer than 180.
  8. I was paying about 285 for 40k, MOT, brake fluid. I had a quote for cambelt (not waterpump of about 285 also) so it looks about dealer price to me.
  9. brilliant, I'll think on. I can't imagine if you had an accident they'd be able to get away without paying anyway. 'Sir, your tyres were not suitable for the vehicle.' 'Riiiiight, but it was snowing, surely they're better than the Uniroyal RAINSPORTS?' 'Erm, let me check:P'
  10. I'm very interested in this thread: 1, where's the best place to get hold of good quality steel rims 2, what are the insurance going to say if i put steel rims on?! 3, by the looks of these goodyear ultra grip they're good for v rated tyres anwyay so that's okay right? It's something i've been meaning to do, but have not throught about since last winter. Do these tyres really make such a difference. I had eagle f1's on the front in the snow and they were just short of ditch finders!
  11. Very high chance :| I had them on a 57plate vrs. It's a design fault. There are some very handy guides on the website as to how to fix it. I've done it to both of my vRS cars and it's a real novice job to be honest. Takes about 2 hours to complete both rear doors. Costs about £10 for the stuff. Job done.
  12. I knew they'd go eventually! They're the uprated ones now, not cupra ones but seem to be much better. I was pleased they said they'd cover it, apparently there is something on their system that says they can put console bushes through under warranty. Obviously not the tracking. In all honesty, if they had said at the start that they'd do the bushes and not the tracking I would have taken that! PS Sharkrider, I knew of your circumstances tbh. I knew they refused back then. But now I think they've accepted it's not good enough as they're replacing them with an 'updated' part. Obviously not the Cupra Bushes, but significantly more sturdy.
  13. Car has just been in for it's MOT, 40k service and brake fluid change last Saturday. Passed MOT etc, advisory that console bushes had split. The garage said this was covered under warranty and would be replaced. Service book said no brake fluid change. Went back inside, said it would all be looked at today. Fair enough I thought. So I got to the garage bright and early, made sure they were going to do an alignment after the console bushes were installed. Great I thought! Got back to the garage this afternoon and they had done everything but not done an alignment as this wasn't covered under the warranty. Furthermore, they had been to busy to be able to do it should I have wanted to pay for it to be done. Overall thoughts. £332 for 40k service, brake fluid, MOT and full air conditioning service and antibacterial treatment. Great! Console bushes replaced under warranty. Wonderful! I'm just a little concerned by the fact that the service manager thought alignment would be covered, then someone else said that it doesn't need doing when bushes are replaced. I phoned Royce Roberts in Hull who said they recommend that the car be aligned when bushes are done....I'm going to get in touch with Skoda on Tuesday, where do I stand? My argument was that I bought the car brand new and it was obviously tracked correctly then. Regardless of my driving, the bushes have failed and had to be replaced, which would undoubtedly alter the tracking of the vehicle, therefore I shouldn't have to pay for this to be done! Thoughts, recommendations or comments welcomed. Overall, I would really recommend the Garage, DM Keith in York (just taken over from Martyn Beever). Obviously they don't want to do the work as they're not getting paid for it. Steven Heward was fantastic and I look forward to going back for my next service. £332 is about 15 quid lower than quoted too which is brilliant!
  14. There are loads of tyre threads. I've only ever had Uniroyal Rainsport 2, Conti Sport Contact 2 or Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD2/3's. So I'd say nothing around that price that is better. HTH
  15. Noticed this on both vehicles now...but last night the car was parked on an incline with the front of the car lower down. Got into the car this morning and the coolant light was flashing. Got off the incline and restarted the car, stopped flashing. Same thing happens on the gf's car when she does a long drive down south. Leaves the car for three days and gets back in...the coolant light starts flashing. Anything at all to be worried about?
