Thanks to everybody for their comments. For once I can make some comments that I haven't seen elsewhere. Firstly do not attempt to remove the trim. You are likely to do some irreversible damage. It is actually quite simple to adjust the striker plate. The only tool needed is a Torx allen style key size T50. A T50 screwdriver might work. In my case it would have been difficult to apply sufficient torque to release the tension. Access to the screws is obtained by unclipping two plastic cover plates. Thanks I'm assuming by trim you mean the carpet like material. I have looked at this but I couldn't see how to remove the trim without risking damaging it. Do you have any suggestions?

Skoda Superb Elegance 2015 Tailgate lock problem
Hi I'm having a problem with the tailgate boot lock. Following a botched attempt by a professional to resolve the issue I've decided to see if I can fix it myself. I've obtained a replacement part which has the same part number as the original failed lock. I now understand how to change the lock. However as part of the earlier attempt, the retracting rod that pulls the tailgate down has been moved about 5 mm to the left. (picture attached). I am unable to see any obvious mechanism to relocate it to the centre where it was initially. Any help with this would be gratefully received. Many thanks Peter

"Boot" not shutting properly
I own a Skoda Superb Elegance Diesel 2015 reg. I've owned the car from new. This is not the estate version but the one that could loosely be called a hatchback. The "door" at the back has two opening modes 1) a full hatchback and 2) and as a saloon boot. These are operated by two different switches at the rear of the car. Out of the blue the boot now jumps loose when driving over a minor obstacle such as a small pothole. There appears to be a safety catch that prevents the boot becoming completely loose. The help I'm seeking is why is this happening and what can I do to stop it happening. Thanks in anticipation. Peter

I appreciate you response. Could you kindly elaborate what you mean by emissions fix I did not install the original update that VW introduced shortly after the scandal became publicly debated. Last year I did have an engine management system update installed. Part of this was to do with the ability of the system to improve the rate of engine heating when the car is first started. The objective is to reduce the time that the dpf takes to warm up and hence block. The update did actually come with a free two year warranty for dpf problems. The local privately owned garage that services my car thinks it might be something to do with the rather fancy engine water pump that is probably installed on this engine. Thank you for this observation. I've had many dpf problems in the past but none on this car to date which I bought new. All the recent journeys have been in the 2 - 5 mile region which of course does eventually lead to dpf blockage. Interestingly enough I did have an engine management update about a year ago that among other issues included an update to dpf management to mitigate against dpf blockage due to short journeys. As part of the update, Skoda enhanced the car's warranty to include a 2 year free warranty for dpf issues from the date of the update being installed. Thanks again Peter

Hi The engine fan on my diesel Superb elegance (2015 registration) has suddenly started continuing to run after the engine is switched off. This happens when to car has been used on short journeys ( 2 - 5 km) This is the first time in 55 years of driving that I have experienced this problem and I would be grateful for suggestions as to the likely causes. In addition would I expect a reading of the vehicle codes to provide any form of diagnosis? Thanks in advance Peter

Skoda Superb mk 2 Elegance 2015 reg Headlights - help please
Hi My 5 year old Superb has covered 46k mi from new and has mainly been very reliable, not to mention comfortable and frugal on motorway journeys. However without any warning the passenger side headlight ceased to do the dance on start up. The horizontal motion is fine but the vertical motion is missing. This resulted in the headlight's focus being about 3 metres from the front of the car giving poor nearside visibility. I took the vehicle in to my local independent garage who had no experience of any VW car with this problem. A code check revealed no faults. As a temporary fix the garage owner adjusted the headlight manually to give reasonable nearside visibility. As far as I could tell everything else is working fine. I am completely new to Xenon headlights. I'm fairly certain that the car is fitted with bi-xenon headlights. There is no change in light colour when the dipped is switched to main beam. I also now understand that the initial alignment is only applicable to bi-xenon lights. I understand that a replacement bi-xenon headlight is close on £1000, a significant fraction of the car's value and there's no guarantee that the other side will not fail in due course. So I would appreciate any help, information or guidance. I've spoken with a car electrician in whose view and experience the only option is to replace the headlight although I have seen comments elsewhere that this problem might be rectified in the engine management system. Can the headlight be switched to an alternative light system (eg Xenon dip / halogen main beam, LED) ? Any other comments and suggestions gratefully received. Thanks in advance Peter

Rain leaking in Superb mkII
Hi I bought a Superb Elegance MK II new in June 2015. It is the 170 bhp diesel RHD version with no sunroof or similar and has covered 40k miles mostly 50 to 150 mile journeys on the motorway. This is my first VAG group car of the modern era. (My 1986 bought new Audi A4 came to a final resting place in the early 1990's outside Paddinton Green police station - the Met's main high security station. Several policemen volunteered their assistance with remarkable speed) A very impressive car - until 2 weeks ago. It now leaks copious amount of water into the driver's and rear driver's side foot wells. In common with other reports of water ingress the bluetooth function and some key functions have been disturbed presumably by condensation - of which there has been a lot. The rain leaks in while stationery . Most of the evidence seems to point to the leak being above and behind the pedals but not absolutely certain. Most of the suggestions for sources of the leak available on line appear to refer to the Mk i car and do not appear relevant to the MK II. By covering over the gap between the the windscreen and bonnet (not perfectly but pretty good ) during nearly 24 hours of almost continuous rain the ingress has been limited substantially therefore strongly suggesting that some form of drain blockage or loosened cover plate near the bulkhead is the culprit. I have looked at trying to remove the plastic tray just in front of the windscreen but this appears to be pretty firmly attached under the bottom lip of the windscreen. It appears that the force required to remove it would quite likely damage something. This would enable me to explore the drain holes. The four obvious drains holes were partially blocked but these were the first things that I cleaned out and that made no difference. So firstly if anybody has any suggestions for sources of leaks for the MK II I'd be very grateful to receive them. I've tried a search of this forum but have not found anything relevant. However that might be due to my lack of familiarity with this forum. With 342 pages of threads searching manually is a daunting task. I have looked at the ERWIN system and I'm happy to pay a reasonable amount for the information. I can understand how you might search a manual for dpf etc but drain holes don't point to a specific item and therefore I'm at a bit if a loss. I've spoken with Skoda UK about using the Skoda workshop manual system but whilst very pleasant and appeared to understand the issue their only suggestion has been to refer me to a main dealer who would be able to help me navigate the the ERWIN system (being a Skoda product). Not surprisingly they are not rushing to explain. So if anybody can take me any further I'd be very grateful. I'm sure I can't be the only Superb II owner with this problem. Thanks in advance Peter
