Brilliant. Thanks a million. Yes it's the bolts that attach the shock to the body of the car at the top. Mine are seized. I managed to cut the head off 1 of them with a small grinder but can't reach the other with the grinder. Might have to drill it out.

Can anyone tell me the size/spec of the top bolts on rear shock absorbers please? Mk1 Octavia 1.9 TDI. Thanks

But the car is fine when the engine is cold.

I have 2004 mk1 Skoda Octavia 1.4 petrol. It is fine driving but won't hold revs above around 1700 when idle. This only happens when the engine is hot. This prevents it being tested for emmissions and has failed the test. The car has had new: Crank sensor Cam sensor Upstream lambda sensor Downstream lambda sensor Knock sensor PCV valve EGR & throttle gaskets Spark plugs Fuel filter Air filter Oil filter Oil Second hand: Fuel rail and injectors EGR valve Throttle . Injectors EGR valve and throttle have been cleaned. Throttle position has been reset. No codes. Anyone got any idea how to sort this out? Any help would be much appreciated.

cooling fan starts every time i remove key??
halpo replied to halpo's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
Just timed it there now and its staying on for 10 minutes and 16 seconds. thats after simply turning on the ignition without starting the car then removing the key. -
i just picked up a 2003 L&K 1.9 TDI GLX. The cooling fan comes on every time i remove the key. The engine doesn't have to have been running first. I simply turn the ignition on without starting the engine (even after being idle all night), when I turn it off everything is fine but when I remove the key the fan kicks in a couple of seconds later and stays on longer than i ever saw a fan stay on before. Anyone got any idea what the problem might be? any help greatly appreciated.

so is there a list of makes and model types that fit perfectly into the octavia mark 1?

a friend of mine told me but i dont think he's too well up on the subject. he might have meant that they can be welded in or something.
-
just checked and i definitely don't have any stickers or labels like that on my seats or headrests. there are airbags in the car alright but i don't think there's any in the seats

thank you. it can't hurt to have more feelers out for similar info. i thought about superb too. they have a nice interior that would look good in a mark 1 Octavia.
