  1. I dont believe the issue In have now is linked to the oil change. It could be the brake light switch but It could also be the gear selector, I've read there are faults with those getting stuck in drive, but thats different to my symptoms. He isnt able to do software updates but does have diagnostic equipment. If skoda are duty bound to do the update free it makes sense to get them to do it. I also agree with you, if there's a chance this fault is linked to the known issue with this gearbox then they shouldn't charge for a diagnostic to rule it out. If they dont budge on charging the £99 I'll get my mechanic to take a look.
  2. Mine isn't due until March at the earliest so will suffer these changes I guess. The removal of rear sill plates is a bit annoying as I have kids, also I've told them their getting a blanket each with the sleep pack so I'm a bit miffed about that, not just because their going to fight over it, the spec clearly says 2 blankets.
  3. DSG oil was changed on advice of my independent VAG mechanic, have used him for years and trusted his advice. At the time I looked at all of the various threads on briskoda re the issue and concluded no harm in getting it changed. I always check under the car after a service as I'm paranoid re oil leaks (sandstone drive) and when I looked after he had done the job I could see the dsg sump plug had been removed and replaced. I only realised there was a software recall on the DSG recently when looking for answers to my current fault, but thanks for the tip! If I hadn't looked at Briskoda I wouldn't have known. I contacted my local skoda dealer who advised I can get the update for free but they will charge me £99 to diagnose the current fault. It's booked in this week for the update but I'm minded not to get them to diagnose the fault until I've run the car for a while. It hasn't happened for a while. I just hope almost 50k without the software update hasn't damaged the gearbox
  4. Yes after pressing the brake to get it to start, its put in drive, handbrake is then released, when foot taken off brake and accelerator depressed it then comes up with warning message to press brake again. Once brake is pressed it moves. It's an annoying intermittent issue. Have spoken with my mechanic who said it could be something to do with the brake light switch. Also I've just noticed I should have posted this on the mk3 forum!
  5. Hi, I have a 2014 Octavia 1.4tsi dsg 48000 miles. Has developed an intermittent fault when moving off for the first time. Once in drive and the handbrake released it fails to move when accelerator depressed. Flashes up a warning message to 'apply brake'. Once footbrake is applied car moves off as normal. DSG had oil change and filter at 40k miles, no other faults until now. Any ideas what this might be?

  7. Thanks all. I try the online chat route first, currently they are too busy to respond to me, but 1820hrs is the worst time of day I guess!
  8. Evening all. Can anyone advise what an order number looks like, how many digits etc. Just wondering if it's on the paperwork the dealer has given me.
