Check if your contacts are on the phone or the SIM. Sometimes SIM contacts does not import properly 3. Upgrade to the latest MIUI version for your phone. The old ones were very buggy

Skoda connect and smartlink are separate things. Skoda connect is a pretty gimmick, but not much useful unless you constantly forget where you park your car. If your car have auxiliary heater, the Connect app lets you control it for preheating or ventilation (information from Skoda's website). Smartlink enables the use of Android Auto/Apple Carplay.
