  1. UPDATE: Now that the car won't lock me out with the key inside I now have moved onto the new problem of 'car locking and unlocking' when driving along. I have 'personalisation' and when my wife was driving we could hear the car doors repeatedly being locked and unlocked. She had the option to lock the doors as you set off set to ON. (I do not so hadn't noticed this curious effect.) One day ater messing in the boot I went to open the driver's door not being sure if I had unlocked the doors or not. The door opened and the alarm sounded (was silenced by pressing the key fob unlock button). Strange... On closer examintion I realised that when I locked the car by key fob or Kessy door handle the doors locked but a few seconds later something unlocked. It was the driver's door! The alarm was set and the other doors were locked but not the driver's door. The dash red led was operating strangely. I think it might be down to the driver's door not reporting that it is locked/closed resulting in the process opening the lock. Possibly a broken wire in the loom from the car to the door? (I have had this problem with the tailgate.) Checked the connector on the cable from door to the car; seemed OK. Wasn't best pleased that I couldn't lock the car. Continued to mess and discovered that I could lock the car with the fob or kessy touch then, when the driver's door unlocked, I could lock the door in the old fashioned way with the key after removing the cover from the handle. Can't explain this. So, before giving Skoda UK a whole stack of cash, has anyone else had this problem and found the cause?
  2. Sorry, I don't understand the question.
  3. OK, I forgot to add an update. The issue of a car locking itself when it thinks there is no key in the car (or low battery) is known by Skoda. (I suspect the 'feature' is to do with the car being stolen by uing the key relay trick then locking itself when the criminals get out.) Skoda do have updated 'body computer' software to change the operation. Strangely, the key recognition circuitry is MUCH more sensitive to a slightly low battery than the 'unlock the doors' circuits. I approached my Skoda dealer prepared to argue the point but the service manager immediately said "oh, you are here for the recall then. We can do it now and clean the car for you for free." !!! It appears that it is not a full safety recall and is only implemented when the car is serviced by Skoda or if you approach the dealer and ask for it. Seems to have cured the problem. MKSOEF, the car will NEVER lock itself when you leave it. It will only re-lock if you have unlocked it but not opened a door. (Assumes you have pressed the key accidentally.) Hope this helps.
  4. I guess I should have expected this. Fine advice as long as you have pockets in all your skirts and dresses.
  5. Yup, happened to me twice this week. Once, unfortunately with the key in the car and 80 miles from another key. This is unacceptable and frankly dangerous potentially stranding drivers in the middle of nowhere and possibly locking small children in the car. My breakdown service managed to open a door (wouldn't say how but some sort of wedge and wire trick) I can't see any way to stop this happening again.
