  1. Hiya, I hope the VR6 searching is going well. I’ve owned mine for a fair few years now and although I don’t know a whole heap I’ve seen a few bits here and there. Firstly if it’s got the big panoramic roof, check the drains, seals and mechanisms. There have been reports of these becoming blocked and leaking into the cabin, via the A pillars and onto the footwell. You’ll see staining on the A piller if it’s a big issue. I’m yet to have this issue but I do check once a month, especially the winter months. I’m yet to see any rust on the body or chassis, there’s general/age related corrosion. The sills are the most common areas as well as under the wheels arches, just check that there’s no bubbling or paint lifting as this will need to be seen to as soon as possible to avoid spreading. I can’t say for others, but I’ve had a few electrical niggles here and there as the way of older Vags go. If you have Keyless entry make sure to keep your fob battery renewed. The head unit can be a little troublesome at times, and if you are relying on the maps, then it’ll need to be updated. No mechanical issues at all. The engine and gearbox has been solid and it’s definitely the last of the true, strong built engines. Just check for annual services, oil, filter etc and that the spark plugs have been done at there correct intervals. Same goes for the DSG boxes. I hope this helps.
  2. Hiya, I’ve been running the VR6 Superb for a few years now. Great performance, really usable vehicle day to day. The L & K models are the ones to go with as they tend to be really well specced from factory. Performance is incredible, 0-60 around 6.0s, a little quicker than what is reported. In the wet, damp and greasy it’s hard to beat it’s all round performance, the 4x4 system allows it to keep up with much quicker Vag models. Economy wise it’s a little more wallet crushing than most…small trips, around town you’ll be lucky to get around 28mpg. On bigger, longer journeys you’ll be getting around 34/35mpg and about 400 to 430 miles to a full tank. Reliability has been spotless. Serviced every year regardless of mileage. There’s a few unique quirks, but what Vag model doesn’t?? Hope this helps.
