  1. Thanks for the replies I will take a look at this tomorrow and hopefully cure this problem Thanks again laurence
  2. Hi all It seems to be a common fault the vag error 17664 which as far as I understand is pointing at the Coolant Temp Sensor. Could someone possibly tell where abouts this sensor is located on my car (TDI 130 PD 2005). Also just today when my car was idling the aircon fan came on at a high rate of rpms for about 5 seconds then off for about 30 seconds and kept repeating this. My temp control was on econ but when I switched to auto it stopped? After checking it with a vag it gave an error of 18043, would this be another problem caused by the Temp Sensor?. Thank you for your time Laurence
  3. Thanks for the reply Mannyo I will have a look at the hoses later today when the suns up lol I hope its somthing nice and simple like that.
  4. Hi all I have a 19 TDI PD 130 which has now done nearly 160000. I have recently been hearing a deep thumping or Whomping sound coming from the engine when on tickover. If I blip the throttle the sound normally goes away, there has been no performance loss but a fellow cabie has got a Galaxy with pretty much the same lump in it and his makes this sound most of the time which is driving him nuts. It almost sounds like a vacume is being created asthe noise is not mechanical. Any ideas? Thanks for reading this Cheers all
  5. Hi there I have had similar fault myself where my indicator sounds like its going mad. I sprayed contact cleaner down the indicator stem to get to the switch gear and its worked fine since. I am a taxi driver and the Superb is a common car on the rank and so far at least four other drivers have had the same problem and cured it this way.
  6. My car never used to have this fault and has only started to happen after 2 years. Also it only does it when moving but my brothers car only does it when stationary!? Also there is a noise like a little rumbling coming from around the dash around by the stereo area I have been told that this maybe the motor that controls the vents. I guess if it cant be cured ill just have to turn the stereo up a bit more lol
  7. thx for a pointer ill look into the sensor
  8. Hi I have still yet to find out why my fan motor blows erratically when my car is moving. Its more noticeable when the air is diverted to the screen . Has anyone had and solved this problem? Thanks for reading
  9. Hi all Its still pulsing and really peeing me off. My brother also has a 130pd and he has exactly the same problem but unfortunately his superb is also out of warranty and he has decided to live with it.
  10. Thanks mate I will wait eagerly for your reply as it's doing my head in lol:)
  11. Hi, Has anyone had this problem, recently the blower motor in my superb runs erratically but only seems to do this when driving as it is fine when on tick over?. Thanks for looking
  12. Ok I see what you are saying. I will show this to the guy that did the job with me and we will recheck the cam timing. We have the lock down tool and I also used a 6mm drill for the camshaft. I will post back with the results as soon as the jobs done and hopefully this will cure my problem. Thanks for your time Roto Laurence
  13. Thanks Roto for the advice:). I will check the bolt marks later this week and hopefully rectify the problem. I assume that if the marks are slightly out all I need do is slacken the tensioner off and adjust the cam wheel and re-tension?. Cheers mate:thumbup: Laurence
  14. Hi Rotodiesel, When you say how does the position of the 3 camwheel retaining bolts compare with the original do you mean the bolt marks left on the camwheel after I slackened them off?. I also checked the water pump for wear, granted externally and it seemed fine so I left it. Thanks for reading Laurence
  15. Hi all, I have had the cambelt and tensioners replaced on my superb 19td1 130 (05) at 80,000 miles and all appeared to be ok. I was aiding the mechanic on this job and we used the lock down tool and 6mm dowel as stated in the VW haynes manual. Genuine parts were used and the job went without any problems..great. But not long after when driving I noticed a slight hesitation in 2nd gear almost like a very brief interruption in the fuel flow. After a while I noticed that it was at the same rpm of about 1750 that this would occur in whatever gear I was in although it was more noticeable in 1st - 3rd. If I power through the rpm range its does not seem to do it only if I am holding the power or powering very lightly through the rpm range of 1750rpm. Would this have anything to do with the belt or the way the belt was fitted?. Apart from the belt being a tooth out (although we both made sure this did not happen as the lock down tools stayed in place) is there any other form of adjustment to the cam timing I should check. Other then that the car drives fine in all other respect its just annoying to feel that slight lurching. Thank you for reading this:thumbup: Laurence (Taxidriver)
