  1. Tried this today coming off a slip road, seemed to do the trick judging by what came out of the exhaust! Thanks for the tip will have to do this more often:thumbup:.
  2. What he said, very tidy car mate, liking those wheels:thumbup:
  3. Some might mate, I won't:). I wanted a black one originally with leather seats but the dealer had stopped taking new orders for standard Fabia VRS's and could only offer SE's . Although I do like the race blue metallic, I most prefer the VRS in black. Ninja_alex, have you checked out the new colour chart on the VW dealers website. They're doing some nice optional colours for the shortly srriving new Scirocco, Viper Green looks interesting in a radical sort of way:O. Just a thought........
  4. Trust me mate I've been there:(. The insurance quotes I was getting at 19 were ridiculous but more so for performance cars even back then. I remember being quoted £750 a year TPFT to insure a Fiesta XR2, £1650 a year fully comp to insure a mk2 Golf Gti 8v etc, etc............. But like you say it can differ between hundreds or thousands of pounds depending on the company which quotes you. My first 2 cars were relatively cheap to insure by todays standards; Talbot Samba 1.0 £320 TPFT (anyone remember those:O); Austin Metro 1.3 £530 Comp at 19 years old. I Had a Vauxhall Carlton 2.0 CDX (ok not high performance, but was anice car back then) at 20 and that cost over a grand fully comp to insure.............. It's only the last 3-4 years I've seen my premiums drop substantially on higher performance cars. My last car (bought 2 years ago) was a Gen5 Toyota Celica GTi-16, rated at insurance group 15 cost me £355 comp. At 19 most insurers would have just laughed at me for trying to get a quote for this before hanging up:O. I do apprecaite that premiums for young drivers (whatever the car) have become more and more ridiculous and way over the top in the last few years:( Phil
  5. I'm 30 with full NCD. Fully comp, my basic premium was £246 on my 07 plate Vrs SE. But I added on Legal cover, protected NCD and put my excess down to £100, which put the premium up to £321 with Priviledge. Even with the extra bits added on they were still substantially cheaper with most other insurers quoting inthe region of £400!
  6. I'm up and down the A14 most days or nights:( so I'll keep an eye out mate:thumbup:.
  7. I had this problem last year when I'd only had the car about 4 months. The bar used to pop out of what seemed to be small spring loaded jaws when folding the single 1/3 seat forward but always locked back in place when folded back, until one day the flimsy little plastic coating on the bar snapped off and it wouldn't lock back in place. Took it back to the dealer and they replaced the little plastic coating. Been ok ever since, but never had the same problem with the 2/3 seat at all.
  8. Try Autosol Aluminium Polish and a bit of elbow grease, always gets the soot off my exhaust:thumbup:
  9. I experienced this now and then on my SE too and wasn't too sure what it was initially but after reading this thread the other day I got in touch with the local Skoda dealer who supplied the car. They confirmed roughly everything that I'd read here, and were happy for me to bring it down more or less right away to fit the EGR gasket. It now seems to have cured the problem completely and accelerates much smoother, though idle is a little lumpier.
  10. Thanks for the welcome guys. Have submitted my post to the Fabia VRS SE register (build no.098)
  11. Hi I'm Phil.G I've been registered on here for a few months now but just not got round to saying hi. Shame on me:O . I,m quite new to Skodas. I took delivery of my brand new Fabia VRS SE nearly 2 months ago - what a cracking little car:D ! To be honest I've fancied one of these for ages ever since I saw Clarkson race that Mini Cooper round the Top Gear test track. I've been a bit of a VW group enthsiast for years anyway, having owned 2 Golfs and Polo in years past. My previous car was gen 5 Celica, I will miss it for the handling but not its lack of fuel economy. I find the fuel economy fantastic on my VRS when cruising I have had up 67 mpg! Anyway I'd just like to say this seems to be a very informative and helpful place, and I'll be more than happy to help out and join in where I can. All the best, Phil.G
