  1. My 110 flew through the test a few weeks ago 89k 52 plate. Tester who is a very good friend of mine & doesn't pass it just because I'm a mate, says that Octavia's test very well & not many fail with serious problems.
  2. Keep it until it dies like everyone else says. Look at other parts of the world, cars are repaired & used & then repaired again. It's our modern society & way of thinking that puts us into the mind set of "as soon as its broken we need to replace it!!!!!! " WHY? Run it, use it & love it
  3. An MG is just a re badged Rover with glitter bits & performance kit fitted at the factory. Rovers were always crap & still are......... ... You cant polish dog crap!!!!!!!!! Enough said!!!!!!!
  4. They are in a spot of bother with cash again from what the news reports have said - I dont think they have that many officers but they have loads of civvie staff sat in offices earning fancy money doing sod all !!!!!
  5. Sorry to hear it & not after an argument just confused! All but 2 of the cars were post 1997
  6. What about the Castle, Cathedral & Bailgate Brimma? Apart from the bail being dug up at the minute.
  7. Tell me why then every VW Diesel Direct Injection engined car I have had ( 8 in total ) would not start on a cold day without them??? And after replacing the glow plugs started straight on the turn of the key? Before you say they must have been worn engines I had 3 of them from new & serviced every 5k?
  8. I wouldn't worry about it dont forget the salt put onto roads only works to around -6c or so, with snow being compacted on roads & continuos freezing conditions its down to the roads & not the car.
  9. Dennis Horton at Lincoln have these alloys in stock for £109 each
  10. The item in question will be pennies - not worth bothering with scrap dealers!!!!! Remember Skoda's are basically VW's & I'm pretty sure that a company as large as them may have the odd one or two on their shelves!
  11. Just a quick thought on cleaning VNT turbos, at 120k (the original OP cars mileage) are people not overlooking the fact that if vanes were just cleaned & turbo put back onto the car & it works ok, thats all well & good. But what about the seals??? They have still done 120k & at some point may fail due to age & mileage (nothing lasts forever) This will end up in it needing to come off again for replacement, thats twice the amount of hassle IMHO. My advice would be replace it, but thats just my thoughts on the subject.
  12. I would have thought that using oil to the correct VAG standard would be fine, after all it is to VAG standards. So why would using Halfords Oil be any different to any other manufacturer? as long as it meets the specification required? Is it that some people actually don't like Halfords & therefore their oil OR is their evidance to suggest it genuinely is not very good oil? A little enlightenment on this subject would be of use to many people.
  13. Yes I reset the service indicator everytime. I have had a fair few VW's before coming over to the Skoda dark side !!!!!!! Last one was a Passat Sport Estate with the 110 TDI AFN engine (wish I had never sold it) I used to run that on Quantum to VAG 505.00 ( think it was that spec) did the same & changed oil every 5K on that too. Just been a little confused with the oil specs & QG1. Thanks for the help
